It isn't an invitational, and there is merit to who qualifies (even allowing for the deliberately manipulated criteria to ensure Messi would be in it).

Either way, I’m not watching a minute of it.

Brilliant to see so many empty seats at the Chelsea match just now. If they keep increasing ticket prices at the rate they are, I can foresee this happening in the EPL at some point in the future.

Football eating itself alive , overhyped overpriced, hideous role models for kids , lorded over by Blatter 2.0 who seems a more egotistical corrupt stain on the human race than his predecessor.
Games been ruined .

One good thing about the CWC is that JPA is a studio analyst

It's a bit ridiculous really. They won the cup that qualified them before they were bought by the group that owns another team. When the Danish team was looking like qualifying through the league, the owners should have taken the necessary steps. There was a cut off date to do it, and they'd have been aware of it. Nottingham Forest owner had to do it and then they didn't even end up in the same competition as the other teams.

The owners should be paying Drogs whatever money they're personally missing out on.

Drogheda were already owned by Trivela before they won the cup. But yes they then bought Silkeborg afterwards. However with how the Danish league is played, getting Europe was never guaranteed by league position until after the cut-off date. After half a season the top half and bottom half is split and Silkeborg were in the bottom half. They then had to win the bottom half followed by a one-off match with 3rd (4th in this case due to a double from Copenhagen). That completed on the 1st June.

Walsall better watch out if they win the League Cup as well.

Every single England U19 player named in this article about yesterday's 5-5 draw has their club noted. Except one...

Officially he is still Royal Antwerp's player "on loan from Aston Villa" so maybe they didn't want to put that mouthful in a sentence.

No, on the balance of probability, I'd say a nefarious, worldwide anti-Witton conspiracy is more plausible.

Quite, Monty. We must be ever vigilant in these dangerous times. The sports, you know, they have quarters.

Ethan Wheatley was on-loan at Walsall last year, but they just said he's from Man Utd.
