Fully refundable flights to Istanbul are the way to go.
Exactly. That's what I have booked with Turkish Airlines.

I did the same a while back with Ajet although some of the reviews suggest getting the refund isn’t as straightforward as it should be.

Think he packed it in after the 16 hr journey back from Milano in '90 when a young Kippax uttered and followed through on his immortal phrase "I feel physically sick".

I booked our Tuesday at 00.20 from STN back Thursday 21:30 for £100 back in Feb.  Happy to take the hit on it at that price.

Sticks an extra €100 odd euro on the price of the flight if you go refundable?  Looking about €400 return from Dublin with Turkish Airlines and about €350 ish with Pegasus Air that have a bang of Ryanair about them which might be too much for a 4 hour flight

You can always cancel the refundable if a better deal comes up. I've got an out Tuesday afternoon, return early Thursday from LHR for £458.

Only an extra 5 euros per flight for refundable with Pegasus.
