Did we object to the selection of the referee before the game?

And if we did you would have stated "that is embarrassing".

Take it on the chin move on . We were woeful should have been 3 down at HT . And the 2nd half was as bad .

There’s no option but to take it in the chin but that does not stop you from asking a question. That’s what we’ve done and we’ve made it known that we will ask questions. You don’t roll
over like puppy and get your tummy tickled and get called a “good boy”.
We should have been 1 up because we legitimately got the ball in between the posts and they hadn’t. When VAR is not used you’ve every right to ask questions as to why. Doing otherwise makes you look weak and makes it much easier for this type of thing to happen to us again.

Reffed Hull V PNE earlier this season and a complaint was put in about an awful penalty decision which lost PNE the game. Later in the same season, he’s reffing premier league games and turns up with us.

But we weren't three nil down at halftime, too be three nil down you have to put the ball in the back of the net,we score that goal, united are not in that position to score two

I can't think of any other refereeing error that has lead to a £60m+ impact on a team. We'll have more player's being sold that we don't want to sell. It could take us 2 seasons to recover from that.

He better never show his face around Villa Park.

Why do Liverpool and Manchester United get so many decisions in their favour? Because the officials know that if they give even a 51/49 the 'wrong' way there'll be a tsunami of media attention. That's what we need to be doing.

Do you really believe that? Fair enough when Fergie was bullying all around him but these days I'm not so sure.

It's patently the case.

There's plenty of controversial decisons involving a select few but unless it's between each other it's always in their favour.

United fan here, you want to be a big club then you have to eat what happened to you and move on. Being a big club means you will have years in which u miss out by the smallest fractions. United had Cantona banned for a season, we miss out on title final day by 1 point. Same thing with the season Ferdinand was banned. Then u have QPR against City. As soon as QPR learn the other game is over and thus they are safe from relegation, they roll over and concede two goals in injury time, then celebrate with City fans - we lost that league on goal difference. Being a big club means shit happens and sometimes to you.
You wanna know who should be depressed, Forest fans. They spent most of the year in 3rd then fuck up royally their last 10 games. They will not be in a position for champions league again this decade.

If you guys had been in any way decent, then fair enough -you'd deserve the sympathy. But do you really think Newcastle deserve to miss out on champs league because another dickhead United goalkeeper decides to gift the opposition. You didn't create anything, you had no good moments. If it was reversed and we somehow gifted a toothless newcastle side a goal out of nothing, how would you feel missing out because of that? You didn't earn it at any moment on that pitch.
When the goal was disallowed, your manager should have called a bunch of the players to the sideline instead of jumping around like a mad kangaroo and told them, 'hold this'. 0-0 got u in the champs league. Instead y'all were too emotional and blew up. Anyway, with some good signings in the summer I 100% expect you to be up and around the places next year, maybe heartbreak maybe a trophy - that is what you get following a big club.

Just had a read of the Guardian article by Wilson, very strange take that the 'goal' wasn't the key moment. I always read his articles and guess that as hes not a match reporter, he's always looking for the outside take, the line no-one else is taking.

For me the biggest gaffe is his view that us pushing the PSR line deserves punishment, we are pushing the line, no doubt at all, pushing it and finishing well outside competing for the title, whilst those clearly well the other side of the line make hay. There are plenty of voices in the same paper grousing at the lack of a real title race, they may have a point.

Wilson's a guy who sometimes seems unable to take his own side in a fight. He's quite fullthroated about the state of the game, the petrostate sportswashing, the hollowing out of competition, yet very often on an issue like this has a strange default to the status quo (and also writes about Man Utd more often than a person supposedly invested in the diversifying of the football attention economy really ought to).

His endless pieces on Man Utd and City I suspect are driven more by the rag he writes for, but still.
