I agree Cash's back pass was poor, personally I think he was looking for Konsa or Torres and was in 2 minds with Martinez being there, but if you look at the incident from pretty much all angles what Martinez did was nothing short of astonishing, Torres was already on his way back to cover, the ball was going away from from goal and above all that he must have known that Højlund and actually lost control of the ball, he would never have scored in a million years, I have no doubt Cash was initially at fault but once the error occurred after that, Martinez was amazing.

I suspect it was because he was right next to a pitchside mic, but the connection on the ball sounded really solid so for it to move so slowly afterwards was a shock. But there was no way he was looking for Konsa or Torres as they were level with him on the halfway line.

Yeah you can see that, easy for us but if Cash's awareness was in question at that point, not aware of Konsa or Torres, exactly where they are, plus the split decision thing at the time, he would see Martinez rushing out of goal towards him, judging Martinez pace towrds him and him thinking this much pressure on the ball, you can see where all this could go wrong, no question it was a weak pass and bad judgement.
Cash is always looking to turn back towards his own goal. That was a perfect example of it. Why he does that I'm not sure. Is he told to do that? It's an easy way to keep your pass completion stats. Until today that is.

We have all noticed Cash turning back more all season. It hadn't really cost us until yesterday when it became a catastrophic error. But it's been massively frustrating that he has been coached to do it. And while it usually helps us build the play again versus giving the ball away it really hurt us yesterday.

On a positive note for Man U, it must be very reassuring to know they've unearthed yet another referee who is inclined to give them a helping hand when they need it.

The worst thing about yesterday was that our run of really tasty gravy and chips around Manchester stadiums came to a horrible end.  :'(

Under-cooked chips, thin gravy… utterly disgraceful what was served up.

Can’t bring myself to think about chips now.

Chips and gravy is a sin against chips anyway 😊

Surely not! I hadn’t even added any cheese in…  ;D

Gravy on chips is just very wrong. It's a northern thing and I still don't know what a Rissole is.

Jonathan Wilson telling us we're all being silly, I suppose it's good that he acknowledges our existence in between his think pieces on Guardiola.

This man is so far up his own arse his feet are sticking out of the side of his head.

He also got very confused...we didn't sell Ian Maatsen last year (as claimed in his article), we bought him!

Whilst there is some point to the article, e.g. man utd are shite and should be beating them, its otherwise and arrogant wank piece. It seems to delight in any PSR related issues that may come our way, totally ignoring the fact the two Manchester clubs can spend whatever they like. What is the point in bringing up the Sheff utd goal again, and football is about moments. Like I posted earlier, my son pointed out to me, its about scoring, if the goal is given, we have a much better chance of CL qualification.

The Guardian, generally, has a sneering attitude towards those not from London or Manchester. I rarely bother with their football coverage.

Yeah, the ghost goal has been brought up a few times after yesterday. The comparisons are completely misinformed - in the home game vs Sheffu, a technology issue meant the ref couldn't adjudicate on an incident that took place towards the end of the first half (had the goal been allowed, who knows how the second half might have played out?!). The governing factors yesterday bore no relationship to that.
Wilson's piece is snide and censorious.

On the few occasions he has mentioned us since Emery came in it's been in that sneering tone. I look forward to us battering his beloved Sunderland senseless.

I don’t normally mind him, but his take that the disallowed goal wasn’t the pivotal moment of the game, rather it was Emi’s daft decision, was odd.

He's one of those who used to be good but has spent the last few years being astonishingly lazy and has been torching the excellent reputation that he once had.

Yes and the lazy parallel to the Sheff Utd phantom goal is another example. If you can’t see the difference with a disallowed goal just before half time, with 8 games to go, and a disallowed goal 17 minutes from the end of the final game again it’s just odd. Both decisions are wrong, but there’s clearly a bit more of a direct correlation with the impact yesterday,
