Guys , we didn't turn up , forget the one ref decision, we should have been 0-2 by HT and 0-3 before that. We were shit today . Please stop blaming the ref .

Yeah we were shit, but we should have taken the lead, against the run of play, which would have happened were it not for a calamitous piece of referring.

Both of those things can be true, and are.

Dreadful performance.

Robbed of potential underservedly getting something from the match by the referee.

I still maintain we'd have been better off today if Yanited had won their final on Wednesday.

This is absolutely true. As awful as we were today, they were better than they’ve been all season because they needed to be today after coming out of the season with nothing but a near relegation. If they’d won in the week, they wouldn’t have cared today.

It can be a “both-and”. We were pathetic, but it was 0-0 despite our crappiness and if we go up 1-0, I think they fold or, at the very least, we hold on to a draw. Certainly, the game changes at 1-0; hard to deny that.

Nah, they were forced by the angry mob into a spiral of hatred and recrimination.

Meanwhile Spurs with their confidence up, swept along on a crest of a wave to a lovely...convincing defeat.

Another game where we simply bottled it. Fuck all the talk of the goal that wasn’t. We could have been 6 or 7 down by then against a team fighting relegation

Really pissed off

They’ll be in Dubai by the time I post this - I’ll be trying to work out how I get to Lithuania - wankers

I'd wait to see if we draw Kauno Žalgiris before making plans.
It's massively frustrating, and shouldn't have happened. But none of us have experienced that pressure of making a split second decision in a massive game. Emi is far more experienced but also fucked up in the heat of the moment. He shouldn't have made a challenge akin to Boris Johnson in that charity match.
But he didnt need to make the decision - thats the point.  Theres a whole backup system to prevent him from having to make split second decisions like that.

I think everyone is one hundred percent on the same page with that.

Unless I've misunderstood, the disagreement is whether you think the game stopping is a reason that you can't just give the goal anyway because it should have been a goal.

I mean, obviously it is a reason you can't give it. Because the game has stopped.
He whilsted - so it cant be a goal and Im ok with that.  But the whistle shouldnt have happened.  I think the ruiles are fine - they just werent applied correctly.  Those fine calls are whats VAR is there for but the referee decided not to follow the process.
Did he though? OK, the replays show the referee with his whistle in his mouth. It's like trying to deduce when the ball is actually played with offside decisions. One thing's for certain, the goal stands the other way round.

Totally irrelevant to the point being discussed. It's not our fault they couldn't take their chances.

It's possible to think that we played badly and that the referee was useless. It's not an "either/or".

How does being shit in the first half stop us from scoring a legitimate goal in the second?

Goal stands maybe their players go to shit and the crowd turns because they are 1 down to 10 men with 20 to go. We wouldn't be the first side in history to get an undeserved result, the cliche is it's actually a sign of a good side.

Did you even read my post?

Yes, Tim, I did, that's why i said "dreadful performance". It was fucking awful.

I don' t know how I could have made it clearer - both things are possible at the same time. We were fucking awful. We scored a legitimate, if underserved, goal, which was ruled out.
