Anything other than Champions League is going to feel a big disappointment, particularly after the nearly PSG and the shit show Semi Final.
Emery got some big calls wrong PSG Citeh Palace and I hope we don’t become the nearly men, but we may have seen peak Martinez Digne SJM Watkins Bailey Mings.
No idea what the future will bring but this week is huge.

I said a month ago this season has given us some amazing moments.  But if it finishes with us in the 2nd or 3rd euro competition, it will feel like a step back.

On the other hand we could be like Newcastle who had a “fallow” year and won a cup and will probably qualify for the European Cup again.

With the on going restraints of PSR it's difficult to see how we build again on this season. Ideally we would be at the stage where two or three major signings would be made season on season to gradually build on what we have. Yet we all know it's going to be another summer of wheeling and dealing to keep within PSR  How is this sustainable? I wonder what the club see as a financial and football plan for the next five years to break this PSR cycle..

The FA cup was definitely a self-inflicted missed opportunity, considering our squad and who our manager is (potentially the best since Saunders).
The semi defeat is the one that rankles with me the most this season because of our complete no-show on the day, with our eyes seemingly elsewhere, being lured by £ signs rather than the glint of silverware.

All of the above. You've all captured the emotional roller-coaster of the season. I would re-iterate that I think we have seen some really good football through the season, and I hope next Sunday we do what we need to do to secure ECL for next season.
I'm pretty optimistic about the next couple of seasons: despite an apparent need to sell, we've got plenty to work with, especially if we can secure a couple more Rogers-type signings.

I’m happy to be disappointed. 2016 we were in dire straits, relegated and getting schooled in the championship as a big scalp. 2018 we almost never existed as a club. I can cope with being disappointed if we are a top six club getting into Europe. We do need some silverware but be happy it’s the top 5 not bottom we are looking at. But it is nice to be disappointed for positive reasons

I agree and have said the same. I recall looking at the bench for one of the games, perhaps Forest, and saying 'if we dont win something with this squad, we might never have this strength in depth to do it again'

A wonderful season with some nights that we will talk about forever, but still empty handed.

We can't keep saying look where we were 5/7/10 years ago. It's infuriating that the worst Manchester United team for fifty years are on course for another trophy while we, yet again, have got nothing. Several managers have commented in the past about our defeatist mentality; I still say that this is the biggest problem we face.

It was certainly apparent at Wembley, for me it was after I saw the team sheet, but it was a really pensive atmosphere in the Villa half.

100%. The fact we weren’t very good against Wigan in 2019 doesn’t alter the reality that we’ve fluffed two semi finals that we should have won in the last two seasons, and haven’t won anything for 29 years.

Cup semis, European cup quarters, top 5 chase in the leauge - and we're disappointed, which is ok, but shows how far we've come, and how close we are

We need to stop being close and start actually winning things.

If PSR wasn't a thing, and assuming we finish in the Europa, I'd say it was a good season. But the fact we'd be forced to sell a top player makes it all feel a bit shit.

And I know that sounds spoilt bratish
