Comfortable for 35 mins then Ramsey's bad decisions making / Atwell deciding only Villa players should be carded for fouls put us under pressure for the last 15.

For me, that was the most difficult of our remaining fixtures.

Is that 7 of the last 8 won now? We have found form - and defensive resilience (please, for the love of God, no 'statistically this is the best defence in the world' back and forth here) - exactly when we needed it.

Hmm, I want an update as it counts as a clean-sheet for Mings and Torres but if we had conceded after Mings went off, would Percy's stats be flexible enough for that? And indeed, have any past substitutions in defence with goal concessions happening afterwards, been captured in the data-set so far?

I’d say that’s a clean sheet for the Cash/Konsa/Mings/Digne quartet as they played the majority. The one against Man Utd at home was one for Cash/Carlos/Pau/Digne, as Konsa went off after about 12 minutes. Brighton 2-2 counted as one goal conceded by Torres before he went off, one by Mings after he came on.

Nobody is saying any Villa defence is the best in the world, although Konsa/Mings must be one of the best CB partnerships in the PL. Anyone arguing that they’re not Villa’s best is not going ‘back and forth’, more like denying the religion of the Pope.

That was a good display to nullify their forwards.

Cash was great all game and Onana did very well. The defence were really solid.

I guess I can't fault Rogers and Watkins, but they didn't offer much else today. Ramsey was just daft for both yellows, which were both deserved.

I couldn't believe that was Konsa's first yellow card in the league this season, especually considering the number of games he has played. His only other yellow was at Club Brugge in the CL group league stage.

He won the ball back which set up the goal, and made a great clearance at the end.
MOTM, without those two big moments our CL challenge would be over tonight.

Many good things about the win today but one of best is we won 4 points v Man City

Thought our gk / defense and Onana haad good games - Marco had a good 20 minutes, Ollie looked much better after his goal.  Ramsay was also good up to his needless red.

Rogers looks a shadow of what he was but still got an assist and our attacking play doesnt seem quite right - but its been like it all season.  We missed Teilemans (or dougie) - someone a bit cuter with the ball.   

Kamara indifferent form continued - not sure if its the contract talk

Personally - I think despite his obvious ability - Marco contribution is offset by what we lose from rogers.  And Marco hasnt added enough in the last 9 games to make it worth while.

I think one of them dropping 3 points is better then them both getting 1. We stay level with one of them then.

But will still finish beneath them anyway if it stayed like that and we matched points. Also hard to call with current matches left which one should lose.
