Im not sure really, but if Chelsea won, Newcastle having Arsenal away and Everton at home is not an easy last two

Cash MOTM is clear , made the only goal and then saved us at the death , what was Torres doing lost his man again as he did earlier when Martinez saved that header .

Overall that's a huge 3 points for us , not a great performance but it's enough.

Mings must be carrying an injury still .

But will still finish beneath them anyway if it stayed like that and we matched points. Also hard to call with current matches left which one should lose.

Our defensive shape was exceptional. Struggle with the ball especially in the second half but got over the line. Unless Mings was injured, that was a stupid decision to bring on Torres. He was at fault for both their chances and was a liability in the circumstances. Ramsey put us under pressure big time. On we go!

Martinez 8 - back to his best really. So commanding in the box and sharp off his line.
Cash 9 - delighted for him, defensively rock solid and saved us at end
Konsa 8 - I've been very critical but thought that was maybe his best performance of the season
Mings 7 - distribution not Mings friend but made no sense to hook him. Pocketed Evanilson
Digne 7 - created that chance for Kamara, got rolled by Semenyo for that shot past the post but another solid display
Kamara 7 - much better today. Sharp to support Cash and got on a lot of ball
Onana 7 - very good first half when we were dominant, faded a bit in second half
Rogers 6 - worked hard anyway and a great assist, got very tired
Ramsey 4 - decent first half but was fading in second before letting us down. Touch has to be improved
Asensio 5 - unlucky with his shot in a decent first half but not doing anywhere near enough currently to be starting games
Watkins 7 - worked like a trooper and a brilliant goal

Torres was awful, McGinn struggled to get into it a bit.

Emery 7 - will be delighted with the response since the Palace debacle and two clean sheets despite multiple changes. Decision to bring Torres on for Mings was reckless and nearly cost us.

Letting in all those goals, if only we hadn't brought him on.

Ramsey 4 is ludicrous. He was superb for most of the match and his sending off was pretty harsh tbh. Thought Konsa was ok but he can b quite sloppy. Two in central midfield deserve 8 as well, especially Onana.

Doing what must be done, not the best performance but looking at the teams around us we just made it a whole lot harder for them, Spurs next and unless they are mad I would expect them to put out a much weakened side.

Big games tomorrow, strangely enough I really expect Leicester to put a shift in, as Southampton did today.

Staying level is no use due to GD. A draw means they are both only one point ahead of us, so both have to win all of their remaining games to guarantee staying above us, and realistically we probably only need to finish above one of them.

In neither of those two chances were either player Torres "man". Evinilson ran off the shoulder of Konsa and Semayo ran right past Digne from the Left. The only thing what might have been stated is Mings is better in the air so might have cut out one of them.

Got to say, well done to Watkins. I can be critical of him sometimes but his finish today was pure class - and I mean that. He just deflected it right where it needed to go, a really deft touch and a superb finish. I didn't actually know he had that in his locker. Incredible achievement to be Villa's Premier League top scorer too. He ought to be really proud of himself, as he's above some serious names.

Great win, could have been 2-0 had Asensio's gone in. Onana was very good and really chuffed for Ollie. That second Ramsey yellow was lazy and crap reffing.

One of those things that all our chances happened so close together that if one had scored, we might have eased off and took the first goal.

We made hard work of that but in the end it's the three vital points are all that matter.

Got to say well done to Torres. I never thought we could last 25 mins with him on the pitch and not concede. A very welcome surprise.
