I saw a stat earlier that said if we win our next two games we'll finish on more points than we did last season, but in a lower position. Strange old season.

There’s no way of knowing if we’ll finish in a lower position if we win both games, is there?

Maybe it said potentially finish lower? I can't remember. What stood out to me more was the fact, league wise, it doesn't feel we've been as impressive as last season, and we didn't really get in the mix for top 4 in the same way we did last year, but yet and all we could finish with more points.

I know what you mean, I was telling lots of people up until about February that it didn't seem like we'd played well all season in the league.

I think it's the psychology of when the good run happens and our position in the table because of it. Last season we were in title winning form for the first half and mid table for the second. This meant we were always up there and managed to stay there at the end, which is a different kettle of fish to bobbing around mid table and having a late charge like we are this time.

I think qualifying for CL this time would be a bigger achievement than last season given we have had to deal with CL games as well this time around.

I agree, if we can qualify it would be an incredible achievement. When you look at the hurdles we’ve faced. Having to sell Diaby, Dougie and Duran and I’m sure I read up until February we had the second worse injury list in the league. Mainly in our defence too.

Plus the Jaudis and Chelski returned to form and Forest have been challenging. It's been much more competitive this year.

I think thats right re Chelsea, Newcastle and Forest. But also the bottom three have been so much worse than everyone else, there have been almost guaranteed points for the better sides (apart from us with Ipswich).

Appears the Bournemouth lad broke his jaw as a result of the elbow from Tyrone. It didn’t appear intentional but an unfortunate outcome nonetheless.

If Mings had been sent off I don't think there would be any grounds for appeal - he raised his arm, and put himself in a risky position. If that was one of theirs on our forward we'd be asking for a red.

And there's been 4 or 5 other teams below us all very close on points. We were going from 4th to 9th in the space of an afternoon.

I agree - I wouldn’t say it was violent but clumsy and if yo raise your elbow like that your risking a red

All players raise their arms when they’re shielding the ball, the Bournemouth bloke was a lot shorter so ran into it whereas a taller man would have made contact at shoulder level. A card would have been punishment for being six foot five.

The lad played on too for 40 mins , we might be talking hairline fracture or minor fracture. The ref and lino and VAR none of them saw it as a foul.

I think it's similar to the Duran one.

I don't think either player make a conscious decision to elbow / stamp on their opponent, but neither really did anything to stop it happening either. And ultimately nobody knows apart from the player.

I wouldn't have said that either incident was a red, but neither was / would it have been an egregious decision to see it as such.

If Chelsea qualify ahead of us it will largely be due to Liverpool turning up in flip flops last week.  Fine margins!

I think he's just getting his arm out to step across to shield the ball/draw the foul by getting a barge in the back. His arm was low, he didn't swing it. Unfortunate, but not deliberate or violent.

On paper, this was the most difficult game.
We've put the pressure on the rest as I’m sure they were banking on us losing so let’s see what happens today. I said 4 wins would do it and I’m still sure it will.  Qualifying again after the injuries and extra games we’ve had this season would be unbelievable.
