They had spent a sum total of three seasons in the top two divisions until a Russian billionaire bought them and spent enough cash to get them into the Prem. See also Wigan Athletic this century and Hoffemheim if you want to go further afield.

Don't get me wrong, I like a bit of variety in the top flight and more power to their elbow to some extent but they only are where they are because they won the ownership lottery, like Man Citeh.

Well yeah but that’s as much a reflection of modern day football as anything. We obviously have a much more storied history, but we’re not where we are now without the intervention of two billionaires.

I'm conflicted on Bournemouth, because on the one hand it's great that they have been able to come from where they were to be realistic challengers for European football - without the ability of clubs to do that English football would be severely diminished.  Unfortunately no-one can do that withoutthe largesse of some billionaire nowadays, but that's not exclusive to Bournemouth or their fault.

On the other hand, it isn't right that they have been able to get away with spending hundreds of millions on players without doing anything about the non-league standard shit tip they play at.  They have the smallest ground in the top two divisions, and even their only competitor for that title in Luton have pretty much used the money they got from their one year in the PL to get spades in the ground on a new stadium.  Bournemouth have had 10 years now on and off to get it sorted, it's not fair to other clubs who have spent 10's if not 100's of millions getting their grounds up to scratch.

Whilst I don't necessarily disagree with the sentiment, aren't away ticket prices capped? So funding a new stand that will take forever to pay for itself would be way down the list of priorities I'd guess.

my point was they should have been made to do that as a bare minimum at their cost . Taking the Prem money and acting like they're still in Div 3 .

Why should they be made to do something no other club has been made to do? 20% of PL grounds this season don't give 3k away allocations. Looking down on a club because historically they've been a smaller club isn't a good look.
