With Tammy and Leon on-board, I guess his only minutes would be fleeting.

Being sent to Coventry can be character-building. Keep him away from West Bromwich though, it's a toxic place.

I can’t believe we are letting him go on loan.  He’s ready now as far as I’m concerned.

I don’t want to rain on his big day but we need to bear in mind that he scored against a mid-table Championship side who were down and out. That’s not a good indicator of how he will play against better sides.

Well if Watkins is injured it's a choice of him or nobody as an option for cover. We would be daft to let him go, if so.

He isn't going to play football here. He'll benefit more from a loan. A goal and a good performance last night won't change that

Exactly this.  He looks physically ready to play…a dozen games in Championship and be good to go from preseason

He’s not a centre forward is he?

No but he can cover Rogers, who can then play up front. Like yesterday.

I don’t want that to happen very often but I’d also just prefer the body here.

Definitely a veto on Cov. Don’t give them anything!

From Jacob Tanswell in The Athletic

WBA FRONTRUNNERS FOR ASTON VILLA'S JAMALDEEN JIMOH-ALOBA

Aston Villa midfielder Jamaldeen Jimoh-Aloba is set to leave on loan for the remainder of the season, with West Bromwich Albion the frontrunners for his signature.

The 19-year-old scored his first senior goal in Villa's 3-2 victory against FC Salzburg in the Europa League on Thursday night, with his winning strike ensuring the club secured a top two spot in the knockout stages.

However, Jimoh-Aloba is expected to return to The Hawthorns for the remainder of the season, having come through their academy from the age of six before joining Villa in August 2023.

The deal is not yet completed, with the highly-rated midfielder receiving interest from several Championship sides in this window, including Leicester City. Villa had decided to keep the academy graduate until Villa played in the Europa League, due to injuries and Unai Emery wishing to rotate his side.

Not sure a relegation battle would be great for his development, my mate reckons they were ultra defensive last time out although that might have been a 'horses for courses' reaction to getting gubbed 0-5 at home in the coaches first game.

We can surely place him at a better club than that shower.?

Slumming it in Smethwick has obv worked wonders for Illing Junior.   ::)

Maybe we need to bring Mile back as loans officer.

Find our young talent good clubs and good scenarios.

I'd have thought that even a handful of 10-15 minute appearances for us in the topflight between now and the end of the season would be beneficial for Jimoh. Rather than semi regular appearances for the dregs of the lower division in front of pitiful crowds.

But then I have precisely zero domestic and European titles to my name, so what do I know.

It's a good point though. I wonder is there an art to getting the best loan possible for all parties.
