Just looked on www.avfc.co.uk and checked out who is in our Men's Squad vs those loaned out - my God we are paper thin! All this gives me vibes similar to what happened to Leeds when O'Dreary failed to win the CL back in the 2000s, they also missed out on CL qualification in the League. Result was that a couple of years later they were relegated to the Championship with the carcase of a team under El Tel.

I'd suggest that's a bit of an overreaction (given our owners and manager).

Chelsea getting that much for Jackson is nuts. Honestly don't know how they do it.

Bayern spending that much on a back up striker is just as nuts.

They were spending money they didn't have and taking out loans based on future revenue. They were massively in debt. None of this is our case.

As it stands…whilst still a disappointing window in terms of wanting to kick on I am happier than I was at 5.45 last night when the team news came out and Martinez was heading to exit doors.

Unless there are some last minute shenanigans or he is going somewhere where the window stays open for a while you’d expect the player and club to try and smooth it over until at least January and get Emi back to his best in our goal.

Lindelof and Sancho would not have been on my list personally but you look at Bailey and Disasi contributions last season and the bar isn’t too high.  Still have nightmares of Bailey in that cup game :/)

Elliott filling boots of Ramsey and Ascensio is difficult but he is a good player so you’d expect assist / goal numbers to be up there with the combined efforts of those two from last season over this season

We need Kamara / Onana / Garcia and Barkley fit asap

Apparently it is hilarious we have our No1 keeper being messed around and unwanted and now back at the club on the last day of the transfer window and he has/hasn't signed a new contract.
Lindelof in, Elliot and Sancho likely in on loan (the former with obligation to buy at £5m and the latter covering 80-100% of his wages).

I don't know who's doing the lab security for wherever it is you've escaped from, but they've dropped quite the bollock into polite society this time.

Genuinely, what's your fucking problem? I found it funny that Martinez made a tit of himself. That's it. And this is now the third pathetic whimper you've made about it today - if you have something useful, interesting, enlightening, diverting - even something that's not just endless lamentable sewage - to offer, please do share it.

If you haven't, perhaps change the subject before we're all sucked into the vortex of your staggering lack of imagination.

Agree SE. From what I’ve gathered, Martinez has not endeared himself to either the other players or his manager. Villa do not need this disruption so, get rid asap.
In all, I think this is one of our worst transfer windows for a few years.
Lindelof and Sancho (another troublemaker), seriously is this the best we can do?

There's something to be said for just doing whatever the f**k you want and taking the consequences later.

I'd have done this in hindsight. By complying with the rules to avoid a European ban, we've hamstrung ourselves so badly we won't qualify for Europe anyway this season.

We can't get rid. He only wants to sign for Man U and they don't want him.

I guess that really depends on exactly what the risk is. Banned next season regardless but then a clean slate would be fine. Banned next time we qualify and/or ongoing restrictions for 3-4 years would be catastrophic.

We have already agreed a 3 year "deal" with UEFA on what we would do. If we don't qualify does the checks get suspended until we qualify again or continue even though we aren't in the competitions?
