Can add Geertruida to the list of players we have been heavily linked with over recent windows who you can watch this season as he is having a medical for a loan to Sunderland
that’s really disappointing.  How do we let these things happen. He was a main target a year ago and now we’re sleep walking into free transfers.

I'd have certainly preferred him to Lindelof.

And the Asensio fee seems way less than the fee that we seemed to have been quoted.

This has been so disappointing.

And people wonder why monchi gets belters. We let kayode go brentford, now Geertruidas go Sunderland.  While the best monchi can come up with his manchester utd reject lindelof

We have bought 3 young defenders for approaching £25m and 2 of them have been loaned out and are seemingly not deemed good enough for us.

I know not every signing will work out, but the Rogers signing (current form aside) seems to have masked an awful lot of wasted money.

Wait for the straight swap of Emi for Sancho! This site will be in meltdown

We haven't let anyone go anywhere. How do you know we were in for them on the first place?

I’d like to think if we was competing with Sunderland and Brentford then we should be seeing them in Claret & Blue.

Stupid suggestion to think we should be going after Ederson at City. Available for £10mil. High wages probably, which fucks us over.

I’d 100% try and do a swap with some cash to us. Man U have been c**ts bidding this late in the window when it’s been pretty obvious a deal could be struck at any point.

I would assume that we employed Monchi because:

A). of his relationship with Emery and;
B). to be smarter operator in the transfer window than his peers.

I think we can assume that one of those options was correct.

Got to love plane spotting day. Our private jet was apparently headed to Antwerp at 9.30 but has been cancelled. Convinced United will buy Lemmens and Martinez today. We'll probably end up with Onana on loan covering all his wages.

This is the same Geertruidas that has flopped at leipzig?

Shouldn’t we be bashing Monchi for wanting him in the first place rather than missing out on him now?

I'd almost enjoy that.

It’s been said that Monchi’s whole strategy was to sell before we bought. I don’t really know what else it could have been, because we need to have a positive transfer balance and reduce the wage bill. It’s not Monchi’s fault that nobody wanted to buy our players. If I blame anyone, I blame Emi, because Man U have known the entire window that he wanted to go there, so they have just waited for us to accept their low-ball offer, knowing that come the end of the window we’d have to accept it or be faced with an unhappy player. It’s an impossible position to be in as a club.

Right, but the rules haven’t come from nowhere. We may not have known what our specific punishment would be (I don’t know how bespoke or set they are) but we knew were off base. Now it may have all gone to plan and we’re where we want to be, but it doesn’t feel like that. It feels very all of over the place. I get it likely isn’t easy, but it has not been handled well. Proof being how much weaker we look and how bad morale appears to be.
This is the concerning thing for me, maybe more than anything else. These regulations might’ve been a bit of a surprise in the season we qualified for the Conference League, in as much as we wouldn’t have expected to be bothered by them under Gerrard, but we should’ve known all about them from that summer onwards. And you’d imagine that Emery and Monchi (maybe Vidagany?) would be aware of them anyway, having had to operate under those restrictions at their previous clubs.

If this *is* all to do with the UEFA regulations then whoever is in charge of keeping the squad within them (Monchi?) is beyond incompetent, and honestly the whole lot - including Emery - could and maybe should be sacked tomorrow for being tools.

There might be more going on that, mind. I can’t see that’s the only thing, surely? It doesn’t make any sense if it is.

Whatever, it’s quite clear that regardless of what happens today this whole affair has been handled terribly, in a way that has been allowed to affect the whole squad.

We’ve made a profit on two of them and Garcia is still with us (somewhere). These deals have arguably helped the situation.

Also, we could spend £40m on an RB and not improve. It makes sense to gamble for this position as Cash isn’t leaving and we can’t afford two sets of big wages for a right back.
