Yup. Roma fans did warn us, and wasn't his second spell at Sevilla a bit of a shit show? Vague recollection, I don't know owt about it, though.

Hard to tell with Sevilla, as they were busy being inventively shit in every other department as well.

Ah right, ok.

I think Monchi is doing the job he has been told to do. Don't blame him for us having to sell players. I blame Martinez for whoring himself out to Man U when they can't even be bothered to provide us a decent fee or decide if he is first choice ahead of some unknown bloke from the Belgian League, and for waiting until a match day one day before the end of a transfer window to act up.

Yup, whilst I hate the sales of JJ and Emi (?) I think calls for Monchi's head are a little premature. He's operating in very challenging conditions and I assume with UE's approval. I still say we tell ManYoo to get fucked though.

Monchi needs to go tomorrow night at 7.01pm.

Agreed

Can’t post exactly everything cause it would expose a couple of relationships I value.

Monchi and his “recruitment” plan was totally dependent on freeing up cash (from sales and wages) to then act

Things happened far far slower than expected. They expected emi and Bailey to be gone by early July!

Since then they’ve scrambled around to try and act still. Which in turn resulted in JJ.

JJ did not want to leave. He was basically forced out by Monchi.

A number of the squad have been pissed about it

Frankly, I don’t want the bloke anywhere near us moving forwards. I’ll take a wager with anyone right now. Either him or Unai won’t be at Villa this time next year

If the trigger needs pulling then we have the owners that would do it, without hesitation.
Is the relationship between Monchi and Emery a good one still?

Let's see what happens tomorrow/today.

We can't sell players if we don't get an offer. Martinez has clearly been whoring himself about but we got no offers. Now they've decided they want to pay up we're affected.

We could force him to stay, and ruin squad harmony, or sell him for the cash. ManU tried to do it on the cheap by requesting a loan which we rightly refused.

ManU have two keepers they're dangling and playing off against each other. Which is weird. We should tell Martinez he can go to ManU for £100m or Saudi for £50m or stay and be our Number 2.

We knew we had to raise money, no other bids were coming in but there was noise about someone having to go months ago. Hence Ramsey.

We will get sorted tomorrow and know what we have. Emery will improve us.

If Sancho comes in that is as big an indicator as anything that everything has gone tits up.  It’s a very obvious desperation move.

Victor Lindelof and Jadon Sancho appear to be where we are at, now...

Monchi has to go on this alone. Throwing money at high wages for shite  players. Terrible sporting director

Sancho and Lindalof?  With JJ and Martinez leaving?  Well that’s how to do it.

I can imagine a situation where all players were encouraged to take a pay cut. Some have, others refused. Instant disharmony in the camp and plenty of reasons to want to leave.

There is clearly a huge problem in the camp, largely of their own making by handing out stupidly large contracts to some players. Once the window has shut Emery and Videgany clearly need to sit down with the squad and have some sort of air clearing session, lay out this is where we are, this is what we are looking to do, and find a way to get some togetherness, because there isn't any right now.

Today the club needs, for me:

First choice keeper, Bizot looks a good backup, not a starter to me, if he's starting all season we are in trouble.

Right back - Cash has regressed.

Legs in central midfield, we are too ill disciplined and 1 paced without Kamara in the centre of the park, and have no one breaking late into the box etc

Winger x 2 - sell Malen, he's pointless under Emery and go and get a proper right winger ffs. Also, need a left.

Number 10 - Rogers is not a 10, never will be a 10. A 10 drops in, finds space, dictates, competes. Buendia showed for 20 minutes last night what a good 10 does, hes just not quite good enough to do it, but might have to some of this season

Striker - for the love of god we need a genuine alternative to the ageing, slowing, Watkins.

Clearly not. To fumble Asensio for £7M is fucking atrocious.

To not have scouted and found 2-3 younger midfielders and forwards that we could get into the squad to give us variation and sell on options, is poor.

To be fucking about with Lindelof and Sancho on deadline day, is fucking criminal.

Monchi needs to go for all of the above, the lack of strategy in the market has been terrible. NSWE are not stupid, they will act, if they are still interested. I said some weeks back it felt like the latter throws of Lerner. We played like a Lambert team last night.

Josh Brownhill on a free wouldn't shock me today.

I would largely agree, but there is absolutely no way we’re doing all that.

If Martinez goes then minimum we need keeper, centre half (which will be Lindelof…), and two attacking options. I highly doubt we’ll even do that. This has been a case study in how not to do things.
