Hindsight is great in the final throws of the window. It’s a shambles. The owners must be royally fucked off.

Collymore suggesting on Twitter that we may as well get rid of all the rot (i.e. players who cba anymore) tomorrow and consolidate with youth. A good idea in principle, but that way the Championship lies.

Seems to confirm what I just said

Unai Emery: "We will see tomorrow [f Martinez stays]. Of course, one of the circumstances that is not helping us. We need others, of course. I am happy with the players we have, but we have to get something more in the squad."

Same as a week ago.

Whatever we are , or aren’t doing, going down to the final day screams of a lack of strategy. And look, 1 point and no goals from 3 games including 2 at home. Basically hard to imagine a much worse start to the season if you planned it.

The difference is, a few weeks ago you were saying they’d fucked it up etc etc when we had had the three most successful seasons in ages. That was a hard argument to make at the time.

I am saying we’ve phenomenally fucked up this window. Which we have.

And I suspect the two things that have had the biggest impact last behind the scenes are how the JJ sale was handled (see Mings’s social media post) and Martinez, who we seem to be selling on the last day of the window when apparently he’s has an agreement with man united for weeks.

And why did those two things happen? Because of what happened prior to this transfer window.

I disagree - it is not that we need to sell Martinez, it is that we are doing it right now. If we had to sell him, do it early, not now when it is stinking the place out.

How much have we just spent on Guessand whilst fielding a clown shoe like Cash still?

You were arguing weeks back that the policy was a failure. I pointed out that that’s a hard shout when we had just had three excellent seasons.

I am pointing out that we have mismanaged this window. It is also worth noting that I don’t even mean just who has gone and who has come in, I mean in terms of squad spirit.

The Mings post, the half arsed nonsense of today. We’ve fucked up this window.

But this window was always going to be fucked up because of what came before. We did want to sell Martínez and perhaps Watkins early and would have done, but nobody was that keen

And he’d be right apart from the youth, unless he means get some younger players in. If there is anyone who doesn’t want to be here then we have tomorrow to get rid and do what we can with the cash. Not long but doable.

Yeah it’s a load of old populist nonsense. If you’re being exceptionally optimistic 5% of the youth might be good enough with a fair wind.

We don’t need bullshit, finger in the air nonsense, we need an actual plan - ideally not, qualifying for the Champions League or you’re fucked.

Ideally I'd like a scouting system that isn't just based off one bloke's mobile phone, like a Spanish Del Boy.

I think that's what he was driving at tbf, but any young player we get in we immediately punt out on loan, which I'm totally bemused by. We must be in some absolutely horrific financial straits.

The ‘youth’ angle has worked once that I can recall, Man Utd early 90’s. We’d get pulverised if we tried that with our lot.

What we need tomorrow is calm and clear thinking not knee jerk opinions.

But the fact it’s come to this, jeez someone’s really dropped the ball.

Tyrone Mings: “It is for us to stay calm & for us to act as professionally as possible. The players that want to be here, now is the time to stay calm. The window will shut & we will see what players we have here..”

I don't get why players wouldn't want to be here. We finished 6th. We're playing in Europe.

Looks like it. It’s funny debating Pacqueta vs Asensio yesterday and it’s going to be neither. I wonder what the attacking midfielder equivalent to Lindelof is?

Because they think they’re better, disillusioned with PSR restrictions, mates elsewhere, just need a change. Take your pick.

They're not supporters of Aston Villa like us, it’s a job. Twas ever thus.
