At the start of the window I wasn’t really a fan of Asensio returning but the way things have gone he’d be a welcome addition now.

We need asensio in the squad to be able to rotate rogers. I think the drop off in form is more to do with mental fatigue, rather than physical.

Rogers arrived in Jan 24, his first year up to January 25 was stellar, he’s now in the “difficult second album/year phase”.

From all i'm reading the Mikautadze deal is still on, Villareal website got excited but now saying it was us not them. Lets hope.

We should just share him.

No one will ever know.

Rogers is still v v young in terms of games played, it is obvious his form will fluctuate but he is a match winner and has proved to be on many occasions.

Would I sell for 100m+ - absolutely id sell any of them for that money

But….

You can’t sell him this close to window closing without shafting the season

Jackson going for a 13m loan fee shows you are going to struggle to get much vfm at this point

In what world is Strand Larsen £20m less than Rogers?

If we got £80m for Rogers and got 2 players in for £30m each (no idea who) would that be such a bad thing if they were decent? Or we could just play Male. And Guessand rather than buy them and stick them in a bin

Yes it would - selling Rogers now is really bad from a footballing point of view, and absolutely cataclysmic from an optics point of view. He’s just won Young Player of the Year, selling him - particularly this close to the end of the window - is basically saying we’ve tapped out. Also his value will only go up.

I do not, in any universe, want to sell Rogers, especially for £80m, but why on earth should optics matter? Who would we be telling that we'd tapped out, and what difference would it make if we somehow kept winning?

And, saying his value is only going up is not really a good argument,  and playing Nostradamus.

Nobody knows.

At certain points in their careers, you could have said the same about Bailey, Diaby , Duran etc.

I think Bailey’s value dropped in his last year with us. Maybe we sold Duran and Diaby at their highest values even though plenty were against those sales.

I’m not in favour or against a sale. Unai just needs to decide what he wants to do.

Well it’s not really playing Nostradamus. Obviously his value could go down or up, but the likelihood is it’ll go up. He’s young, got a long time left on his deal, is highly likely to go to a World Cup, and has attributes that are pretty desirable in a player. He might get injured of course, but it would take sustained bad form to have any negative impact on his value. So it might go down, but the odds are it’ll goes up.

But I was responding to your original comment in which you wrote his “value will only go up”.

However, you’ve now said “it might go down” which  are actually contradictory statements.

Bayern Munich have reached an agreement with Chelsea to sign striker Nicolas Jackson.

The deal is a season-long loan with an option to buy, worth a total package of €80million (£69m; $93.5m).

It comprises a €15m (£13m; $17.5m) fee up front, followed by an additional €65m (£56.2m; $75.8m) fixed, plus a sell-on clause, if the move becomes permanent.

We never stood a chance of him joining us.

That would be the biggest plot twist since Haley Joel Osmond saw dead people.

Not for me. I saw that coming from near the start.

Surely they’d want £70m odd for him. Think it’s tabloid rubbish tbh
