Rogers signed 18 months ago for 10-12m. If we sold this late I would think it's a £100m package, which if offered we should not just rip the arms off, we should lock them in a dark room and keep them there until the money clears. He's the most statistically impressive footballer I've ever witnessed, for a player who hardly ever actually plays well. He has the odd sublime game for sure, but 90% of the time we carry him, he's a walking booking and last few months, looks like he can't be arsed. Anything of that kind of money, sell, bank the money, have long term targets, find the next one.

Haha! I love this! This is exactly the kind of thing I get behind.

And I'm persuadable.

Don't forget that you can still be quite a way over the limit in the morning gentleman, so take it easy if you're driving.

I did say a few pages back that we’ve regressed as a side with him as a starter.

The fact we can’t play out from the back with the same confidence as we did throughout 2023 is as much to blame for that as anything he does on or off the ball, mind.

But I do recall plenty of games last year where he beats one or two, or even two or three chest out Gazza-style and then presents the ball straight back to the oppo or plays a really basic bitch pass to no one.

As Paul said, the optics are bad if we cash in this window.

But I don’t think I’d be as bothered about him moving in Jan or next summer as I am about JJ’s departure.

Rogers can be brilliant, that's the problem, we remember those sporadic moments and forget the rest. In his defence he has been played out of position, even so Grealish was at the top of his game when he left, he dominated the play that's why we got 100 million. If someone offers that for Rogers we should take it.

I’m with Ozzjim. I’d take 100m every day of the week. That’s crazy money for someone who hasn’t performed for about 8 months. I feel like he’s already had his head turned.

I wouldn’t take 80 though

That would be the biggest plot twist since Haley Joel Osmond saw dead people.

I’d sell for £100m too.  Asensio is his replacement and we could afford that Toulouse CB.  Plus there’d be change left in January and future windows to grow again too.

The gaulling bit is Malen and, to a lesser extent Guessand, being on similar wages but playing even less. Equally shifting Buendia might solve the problem and impact the squad less.

I'd sell pretty much any player for £100m. That's insane money.

I can get into the debate about the amount of money, but the idea that Rogers isn’t good but is just a consistent statistical anomaly is crazy. It’s in the same ball park as Ollie being easily replaceable.

He’s unplayable on his day. His last day was Celtic. I think the attention has gone to his head. Hopefully, Unai steers him back on course and he plays for us for a decade.

The way the market is though often a replacement will cost 75% of the fee of the star and they are untested and you’re paying a premium for potential.

It's only good money if you invest it properly back into the squad. We spent the Grealish money on Buendia, Bailey and Ings.

We need to keep Rogers and build the team around him. Not bringing in Asensio which will piss him off for playing out of position.
