Not sure what is a realistic fee/ wages for Asensio who is 30 next year, with one year left on his contract?

What's realistic and what we are going to have to pay are two very different things.

They probably could - though that is more a reflection of their revenue performance over the past decade - which I'd wager makes ours look feeble - than being part of any purported "Sky 6".

In many ways I am glad we aren't involved in the current circus, Newcastle and Spurs could come  cropper financially and feel our pain in the next couple of years.
Unlikely. The Jaudis are in a very similar predicament to us, just a year ahead of our cycle. Spurs have loads of financial headroom due to their revenues being considerably higher than ours and being fairly prudent in the transfer market within this three-year cycle. If they can get the management/mentality thing right, they'll be a very big threat once again.

I know it is a naive hope! It will be a monumental effort for our club to not go backwards but it isn't impossible

Frank is a good manager. Kudus, Simmons and Paulina are all very good signings. Spurs will be top 6 with that squad easily.

Yep they have bought well I think, certainly a lot of attacking talent.

They will be better but I don’t think it will be easy. They were terrible last season so they have a big challenge to climb from bottom 6 to top 6 while also playing CL football.

Palinha in the vital one in there…him Bentancur and Sarr is a v v good three in the middle. Whether they can keep Bentancur fit is a big issue.

Bentancur looks like an average midfielder to me.  Maybe it's because Matty Cash committed GBH on him that time (he must be up for release pretty soon).

As long as Matty does not injure Bentancur again- they should be at least a top 6 side

Yeah I think they’ll be strong.

The nearer we get to the deadline with no news, the more concerned I'm getting that we'll either make no signings, or panic induced crap ones.

Not sure which would be worse.
