It’s bizarre that we have offloaded 14 players and only brought 3 in, and the rumours are that we still can’t meet PL PSR and UEFA’s wage rules

I don’t think there's any suggestion that we can't meet the Premier League requirements, is there?

I also don't think there's any chance we fail to meet the 70% UEFA threshold this season because of the Champions League money. What we're worried about is next season, when we still have big wages but a £50m hole to fill from finishing sixth, making it a lot harder to be under 70% next season.

The thing we have to do now is have a net positive spend on our UEFA A-list, so the number of youth and fringe players we farm out is pretty irrelevant.

Not a lot of incoming cash.

It’s his previous work that has buggered us.

If you look into those rumours most of them are based on very little, especially ones that mention PSR because we are absolutely not in any risk with that one. SCR night be having some impact but I think the big problem is the extra UEFA restrictions, mostly because that list of outgoings doesn't contain all that many players who were part of the champions league squad. We do have the savings on Rashford, Asensio and Disasi as well though and I suspect we're looking at using some of that money in the next few days.

Olsen, Bailey, Rashford, Asensio, Desasi and Ramsey from the CL squad...
£40m cash
£1m week wages

Guessand has obviously eaten some of that credit, but surely we have some wriggle room.

It’s not really. There’s some question marks around how well we’ve spent some of our money in terms of value to the first team, but a lot of the issues pre-date his involvement.

This will turn into a game of chicken, clubs who want to be rid of players but wanting top dollar and clubs like Villa who are desperate to get players in but don't want their pants pulled down. The last hour will be very interesting.

It might be interesting - and at least that’ll be an improvement- but not sure it’s particularly conducive to good squad building.

I think the Chelsea punishment has allowed them more of a free reign than ours, which is more immediate in its sanctions - if this is the case did we screw up by accepting such draconian measures?

I think the punishment has to have been a shock, as I am not sure why you would have gambled so much if you knew that we were to be punished in this way.

Definitely not, pre season bit of a waste too in terms of bedding players in.

If we never had the cash/inclination to bring in an extra right-sided centre-half, it seems pretty mad to me that we didn't spend any time in pre-season trying Mings and Torres together. Surely they must have considered the possibility that Konsa wouldn't play every single minute for the entire season?

Well he's probably doing ok as we're all watching his content
Fair play to the guy for doing it and spending his time producing content.
I don't subscribe to any Villa output but I'm not in the camp for taking the piss out of anyone that does this sort of thing.

I’m not into the talking heads stuff on YT, quite frankly if I want one or two people endlessly analysing things to death, I’ll come on here.

My own attitude to YouTube is you need to have a certain something about you or a USP to make it succeed and there are far too many people posting content that don’t.

I haven’t watched a huge amount of his stuff but it’s not going to take off the way something like VoT has because it’s just a bloke warbling at the camera. Pete Schaad is similar, he’s a lot more polished but I can’t take to it because ultimately it’s just his view and I prefer something that isn’t quite so…….self indulgent. That’s maybe unfair but if you’re putting yourself out there, people will critique what you’re doing.
