We need midfield hitting the box either way.

Jack Rudoni at Coventry is a proper goal scoring box-to-box midfielder, I doubt we'd look at someone from that level right now but he's exactly the kind of player Crystal Palace will sign for about £20m and will be a world beater in about 12 months.
interesting, I was wondering who the next Wharton-type purchase might be ... It'd be great to buy another talent of the Rogers level

Asensio doesn't need to run around at high speed, he's one of the best players at creating space I've ever seen play for us.

That thing he does when he runs up to the edge of the box, just outside, then picks the perfect moment to stop and create tons of space for himself to receive the ball. He's technically brilliant.

Works better with wide players and getting withing 6 yards of the byline though, neither of which we have really done the last two games.

Hayden Hackney at Middlesbrough is supposedly the one.

Especially as they released him as an 11-year old. Has Eze vibes about it.

Sounds like someone who had a very dissappointing second album.

It does, but that’s why it can’t only be Asensio. It’s other players in and a change in approach - the first two games have been very poor tactically.

Before the start of trading I doubted Asensio because of the drop off in form, but as things are now would pick him up myself to get him in. In retrospect perhaps we should have tried to get Grealish back.

Yes we should have in my view. The lift his
performance last weekend gave Everton was worth a lot more than three points. We desperately need something like that. His return would have changed overnight the narrative around our fortunes.

Asensio is technically superb but I found him on the periphery of games a lot. I'm not as gone on stats as some on here but the single assist does maybe tell a tale. I'm not bothered at all about his lack of pace, we brought on two quick players last weekend who had little impact. If he comes back, we simply have to get Maatsen into the team I think to give Rogers an overlapping option. Makes us weak on counters on the left side but something has to give.

Are we actually going to get Asensio?  I haven’t read anything anywhere that it’s an option - if we can we should.

Well let’s bloody hope so, it’s pretty slim pickings at the moment.

It does seem so!  Newcastle trying to sign that big lump from Wolves for >£50m proves how tough it actually is, especially in certain positions, even if you can spend and are in the CL.

Wolves rejected £55m for him yesterday as there's not time to find a replacement. Which will be a common thought. Newcastle look screwed, Forest are imploding. Just need to get our shit together.

Newcastle have a really good team - the striker issue obviously needs addressing, but they look far from screwed.

I think they are going to struggle massively in the scoring department as things stand now.

Newcastle are getting properly fucked over by Isak. They’ll only sell him if they can buy a forward and their options are running thin. And every club they approach knows they’ve get £120M plus coming in. And if they can’t come up with a replacement then they won’t have Isak because he won’t play for them or he’ll have forced a move and leave them high and dry. Funny only because it’s them.

Yeah Jack all up top. Unless they plan to Stoke their way to goals like they did against Liverpool all season.
