I’d say we were on par with Chelsea last season. Both them and spurs have improved a lot over the summer. Even man u might have a better season.

Yeah it’s all really muddled. There’s a disconnect in the transfer strategy - it seems very few players that are signed Unai actually trusts to play.

Yeah i really do not understand  this at all. Malen and guessard should have started. One of them would have made a difference.  Dont know what unai is doing here

I do think a lot of it is the uncertainity - I think when the window closes well be in a better places in lots of ways.

Think this is all part of the PFR / SCR bollocks - that you have to do things that make no sense.  Its like terry Pratchets Vimes Boot Theory in reverse - we have quality - but have to sell because we cant afford it despite already owning it

I think a bit of a victim mentality has crept in. Lots of players just way off it. Perhaps even the manager or maybe he detects the sentiment and this is an explanation for caution. Who knows. We're a shadow of ourselves and the capabilites we have.

If JJ or Bailey were popular, then folks may well have taken the knock. I have as a fan. We need some new faces desperately this week.

Yup I think the narrow set up, pack midfield thing is a really big red flag of a lack of confidence, negative mentality at play.

That's going back to January or maybe even the summer before. Given how tight we were to the wire financially, signing Malen and then Rashford and Asensio a week later made no sense. I suspect both Malen and Garcia were more Monchi signings, Emery hasn't been keen on either of them since day 1 anyway.

Don’t disagree, it seems from the moment Martinez wiped out Hojlund the whole vibe around the club has been miserable and it seems to have been reflected in these first two performances.

🚨🟣🔵 EXCL: Aston Villa make contact for Christopher Nkunku as option for the final week of the transfer window.

If Barkley goes it's because we're going for a younger central midfielder that will be much closer to starting. We need a dynamic 8 with some pace in my opinion, so freeing up a centre mid spot makes sense. We also need a right winger.

Nkuku links are pointless. Get Jackson, he will stretch defenders in behind.

But why did he do something so reckless?

Is it because he himself is a bit of a maverick/ hothead?

Or is it because he was over emotional and knew it was probably his last game based on what he had been told by the villa hierarchy?

It changed the course of the game, season and immediate future of our club.

The subsequent mistake that the referee made after took a lot of the heat of Emi, but it would be good to get to the bottom of why he did, what he did.

If he was told it was likely to be his last game, then some responsibility needs to be taken by the club for not considering how this could have affected his mindset going into the most important game of the season.

Bayern and Leipzig both keen: #AVFC also now informed on conditions.

Villa also have Nico Jackson (many clubs keen) and Asensio on list.

Nkuku might be good but cant see how we can afford either him or jackson

We desperately  need pace and defensive players. Cant see us getting all of those this window

One good thing is, I don’t think Chelsea and the other top six clubs will see as a threat so maybe more willing to do business with us.

Responding to villa for life, I'd say it's as simple as he made a mistake, like every player does at some point or another.
