I think Emery means Buendia and IIling Junior. Can’t see anyone else leaving.

Chap on Twitter who seems to have some insight into things within the club was suggesting he’s expecting Barkley to leave this week.

Can’t see us getting much of a fee for him but a couple of million may make all the difference.

If Barkley left it would be on a free surely, no one is paying a couple of million for him now

I think its more that noone wants to buy our players at the prices we want for them.  I would think there are 5 pr 6 players we would happily sell (but also happily keep) - and as such theres a lot of uncertainity.

I agree and when you know your club are willing to offload you if they can, how does that make you feel/play?

He’s got to be worth £2m surely? In today’s market that’s a giveaway. Even if not the wages should help and just could be the difference between getting someone in or not.

Agree Dante, he looks very Bailey part deux, when we need, well, better.

Plays on the right-wing for Aston Villa (4,6)

Tony Morley?

If Barkley were to go, it would free up quite a bit in wages you'd have thought.

I'd imagine he's easily in the bottom 30% of earners in our first team squad.

We just can’t continue to cycle players out the door. We’re basically doing the worst of both worlds - go through a summer with a group, then sell/loan a load at the last minute before (hopefully) getting others in - essentially negating preseason. Saying that though, we’re playing like we haven’t bothered to prepare in preseason anyway.

Also, buy them, play them a couple of times in friendlies, start to look at shipping them out.

Yeah it’s all really muddled. There’s a disconnect in the transfer strategy - it seems very few players that are signed Unai actually trusts to play.

Also it was really evident in January - the squad wasn’t good enough until Asensio and Rashford came in. That squad is now arguably weaker than it was pre those signings, and those two aren’t here (we better pray Asensio returns). We’re not optimising the squad with our approach, but it’s not good enough anyway. They have to bring in some quality or teams will storm past us.
