it's £60mil these days for Jackson, who's not up to Ollie's level. £40mil+ for Quattara, a forward who wasn't first choice at Bournemouth - you get fuck all for your money now.
yet we sold Ramsey for £40m . Absolute steal that for the Saudi's

I think Unai and the recruitment team probably think they could get a replacement for Ramsey in easier than replacing Watkins

From his presser today, it seems we thought we had signings lined up, hence the sales, but they haven’t happened for whatever reason

Took it the other way myself. Heard it as they expected the departures to be done quicker so we could focus on the in's - but theyve taken longer than expected

Good thing is Unai was clear we need strengthening for a 50 game season

I was thinking that earlier. Subject to keeping them motivated, I’d be looking to keep all our aging players and focus on developing youngsters instead.

Sadly that is the opposite position to the needs to satisfy PSR.

He definitely said we let players go 1 or 2 weeks ago when we were expecting to do a deal.
He also said there may be other outgoings.

Let’s hope that means we are able to do something before the window ‘slams shut’.

We need a quality RB.
Have done for 4 years.
Right back is like a weird sort of genetic malady we have had for 25 years now.

MON used to buy them and discard them (Habib Beye for example) and play left backs or midfielders there (i reckon 75% of his substitutions involved a midfielder moving to RB - remember Reo-Coker playing there? And usually done to facilitate Steve Sidwell coming on).
Unai seems to see right backs as vitally important to how we play, but then buys them and bins them all the time (Ned, maybe Garcia by the looks of it, maybe Fort coming in) whilst persisting very often with Cash, a mediocre one.
You're right - I was thinking about this earlier today. Guilbert and Ned seemed to completely fit the bill for what we wanted but both have been binned off. KKH could definitely have done a job but has been sold.

I actually think Emery is still seeking the elusive CB-come-RB player that arsenal have created with Not-so-White Ben.

Good, that'll shave another 17k a week off the wage bill.

Depends on who we sign with Buendia, but I’d like to keep Illing-Jnr around and see what he can bring.

I don’t think we can afford to keep them on if we want to bring someone in.

It keeps being said that the Jackson deal is really difficult because of the finances.
Regardless of how many we have shipped out, I think the club is in far more of a bind than we think.
