We might have been better off missing out on Europe this season and having a proper crack at top 5 . These rules are ridiculous.

Said it before, but at what point is it not really worth entering the Conference or Europa League if it's going to hamstring you this badly?

Saw Steve Parish interviewed after the Palace game earlier and he said being in Europe has presented strict rules and different challenges or words to that effect.

I guess Europa League is always worth it when there is a Champions league route available

The players and their aspirations (plus really importantly, the manager’s). In the PL there are a load of clubs who will pay ballpark the same money - take European football away, why join or stay with Villa.

Weren't we told a few days ago by one of the few on here with any insight that there would be lots of media drip feed to indicate we haven't get a pot to piss in as part of negotiating strategy ?

Not sure that’s insight. More introductory negotiating skills.

Champions league might be a draw for players . Europa isn't really . Conference is a complete joke .

🚨 NEW: Al-Ahli have added Amadou Onana to their list of midfield targets — not an easy deal, no approach to Aston Villa yet.
@JacobsBen

Saudi football is his level

£60m and hijack the luiz deal?

💯 Luiz is so far ahead of Onana in technical ability

Luiz has already signed for Forest. Onana is a different player, comparing apples and oranges and its simply incorrect to suggest Saudi is his level.

Vinnie Chase, we need an update!

If we got our money back on Onana, I'd let him go and try bring Conor Gallagher back home. Unai wanted him, didn't he?

Onana is a totally different player. At home I think he and Kamara together is limiting, but he was excellent defensively at times. Luiz is a far better technical player, but his off form was way worse than Onana, and Luiz was replaced 12 months earlier by Youri. We missed him being deeper against Newcastle, I suspect he will be back alongside Kamara against Palace.

🚨 The Nicolas Jackson deal will depend on Chelsea lowering their demands for a loan fee — Villa can’t get close to what Chelsea are asking.
@mjmarr_star

£10m is the loan fee I've seen. Newcastle may decide to buy him or pay the loan fee, such is their desperation.

They fleeced us for Barkley 5 years ago, £11m to have him on-loan. How about they knock half that value off Jackson as a late refund for Roscoe being pretty shite for the second half of 2020/21?

Remember those moody stares at the bench when Deano subbed him off for disappearing in matches, fuckin' red-faced tub of lard.....the 2025 version is much better though, honest. Doesn't sulk at least.

Chelsea boss Enzo Maresca said Nicolas Jackson and Christopher Nkunku will not be part of the squad amid transfer speculation.

12 seasons out of European competition, followed by three seasons in it. I know which I prefer.

That was a disastrous loan spell.

He looked a bit lardy last few times he togged for us towards end of last season, technical skills still a level above Onana's, mind
