Our transfers usually take about a week to complete.  We aren’t really being linked with anyone by someone we would trust.  So it’s either nothing or a couple of very late loans I think.

I’m feeling pretty deflated at the moment, but didn’t Evann’s signing, in terms of concrete rumours, pop out largely out of nowhere.

I didn't say that Monchi was with us when we signed Duran.

As for breaking even, this is what we paid for the players mentioned
;
Zeppy Remond - signed for nothing
Yasin Ozcan - €7m plus €3m add-ons (€6.06m + €2.6m add-ons)
Kosta Nedeljkovic - £8m plus add-,ons
Samuel Iling-Junior €14m plus add-ons (£12.12m +add-ons)
Lewis Dobbin £9 or £10m

And don't forget, we'll be earning loan fees for them whilst they're playing for other clubs - obviously not millions, but every little helps.l towards breaking even/turning a profit.

And if we've got a €10m max sell-on limit for Barrenechea, that equates to a sale price from Benfica of €33.33m.

Fom your original post:
Monchi and Co found Duran, Rogers and Barrnechea - they just need to find one year after year and the best way to do that is by signing two or three possibles each season, in the hope of finding a hidden gem to be either polished and sold, or kept as a crown jewel.

Again, Monchi was nothing to do with Duran signing; Unai gave the green light but then he would as it was pretty much his first day in work.

As for the five players you list above, loan fees (or in reality paying their wages) would need to be Rashford levels if we're going to make any money/break even from Ned, Illing Jr and Lewis Dobbin, probably Ozcan too. That's four out of five 'investments' where we'll probably lose money.

We've made some very good money selling Carney and Kellyman, Duran obviously and even miraculously managed to make a small profit on Diaby who was looking like he could have turned into a big financial loss. Let's see what happens with Barrenechea, my guess is he'll adapt and develop very well at Benfica, stay there for a few seasons and be sold for €40m+.

Player trading is high risk and very few if any club get it always right. The money makers bring in a young player, give him a couple of seasons and sell him on for a very tidy profit. Right now, other than Rogers, Unai seems very reluctant to give any of Monchi's young purchases a game. Oh and Rogers was an Unai spot.

It's also worth noting there's not a lot of money floating around outside of the PL and players wages are putting off lots of potential buyers. It's a tough market we've yet to really master.

🚨🟣🔵 Aston Villa are pushing for Nico Jackson as top target wanted by Unai Emery.

Emery was Jackson’s coach at Villarreal and relationship is excellent, with talks ongoing over formula/structure of the deal.

#AVFC also aware of competitions with several top clubs keen.

Jackson would be an exciting signing.

Whenever I'd watch the match with my mom (RIP 💔) whenever he was on the ball and the commentator said his name I'd go HEEHEE and it would really wind my mom up  ;D

Hopefully we get him. Bit more depth up front.

£60m is a lot and would mean someone else of big value is going to be in the departure lounge .

We’re not spending £60m on him. If it’s anything it’ll be loan with option/obligation to buy I would think.

At least if we sign Jackson it will stop him scoring against us.

If we sign Jaydee, I plane to lazily call him JD on here.

Won't that cause some confusion for our Kiwi poster(s)?

Could be a loan with obligation to buy. Load up wages, defer fee, for when we have ~£60m more to spend as seems likely next summer with £360m turnover at 70% being pretty much £60m. Not that it's loaded all at once.

Core group are a loveable feast as they age, so Ollie, Martinez etc might only have 1 more year in them.

I don't see them wanting a loan . Someone (depending on moves this week) will offer cash up front eg. Brentford for one example who could be awash with money . Forest seem to be breaking all the rules again too somehow . Then there's Spurs .
