Jackson off to Newcastle according to some of their fans. Hope so, he's not even as good as Diaby.

He’s got plenty of ability and would make our squad better.

Agreed. He'll make Newcastle better too. I'd much prefer him at Villa.

Garcia looked a good footballer to me last season.

I wonder how much that one massive error against Liverpool set him back, both in his confidence and how much confidence Emery had in him.

With Emery you'd hope not too much.

With himself, he needs to move past it if it has.

I watched highlights of Chumps League qualifiers last night and spotted Barrenechea playing for Benfica, so I checked his stats - 5 starts already for him this season.

Our deal with them is: €3m loan fee plus a  buy obligation of €12m (subject to conditions being met) and a 30% sell-on clause.

So €15m is pretty well guaranteed and given Portuguese football’s propensity for developing players a €30m sale in the future wouldn't be a surprise, (double what Benfica will pay us). Earning us a further €9m in sell-on fees.

That would give us  €24m for a player who we got for €8m + €3m add-ons (which won't have been paid.
So a net €17m - £14.5m for a player who never played for us.

Cityesque/Chelseaesque

That's what we're going to have to do in the future to bring in money, and is why we're signing the likes of Zeppy Redmond, Yasin Ozcan, Illing-Junior and Kosta Nedeljkovic.

Just a couple of quick points: We have a €10m ceiling on any future profit Benfica make if they were to sell and generally they sell very well. Monchi wasn't even at the club when we signed Duran. Unai gave his approval, probably his vert first decision when he joined us. Everything was already in place to sign Duran.

As for 'Zeppy Redmond, Yasin Ozcan, Illing-Junior and Kosta Nedeljkovic' not forgetting Dobbins, together I don't see us breaking even on those deals. Garcia is for me the best of the bunch and I hope he gets a chance to develop at Villa Park. He's already shown great potential.

Haven’t we already potentially sold Ozcan and Ned (option to buy loan)

It would be nice to see a decent rumour of an incoming wouldn’t it :-) ?

Seems 90% of rumours (& actuals) are outgoings.

Hoping for a good week/10 days in the market

We need to start a Summer Transfer Transfer thread for when we immediately punt out players that we've signed.

Indeed, it’s rather disheartening.

Or a, we’ve just signed (obscure youngster) player from wherever but will he ever play for us thread?

I think that was the suprising thing about Ozcan, because he had been effectively bought last season and left at this club, he was highly rated and most of us thought he was coming in to challenge (and I think he did too from some of the quotes)
