I can’t see a situation where we dont get Asensio back. If we got in Jackson as well, him, Malen, Guessand, Watkins and Rogers are some serious firepower. We’ve had Lenglet and Disasi as  defensive cover loans the last  two years, something like this would be fine again.
I honestly find the constant links with our players leaving to be tiresome, particularly as most of it seems to be bollocks.

What has happened to the Asensio deal?

I've never been so eager to see a window "slam shut" in modern years than this one.  It has had the effect of draining enthusiasm for the season and adding an air of malaise over the whole club IMO.  Get it shut, with losing no-one else, another couple in, and a couple of good wins under our belt and everything will begin to look rosy again.

I dont think we've taken any steps back. We've successfully cleared the wage bill of low contributors and 1 player we'd have ideally liked to have kept. Such is football.

This is done to create wiggle room. Next summer we'll have more wiggle room as 70% of £360m (let's say) is significantly more than 70% of £275m.

That's how I see it too. Get a couple in this week, and push on next summer.

Im our wages to revenue  was 96% we must ahve significantly  got it down  now

Has Monchi been asked how he let it get to that stage in the first place? That was the season we had a deep run into the conference league and a very successful team in the PL, so match day revenues must have been pretty high. Were we paying crazy wages to the likes of Zaniolo and Lenglet?

There has to be some kind of internal review of how we've ended up with a significantly higher wage bill than Newcastle or Spurs when you look at the squads side by side.

I wonder if the squad had “get into Europe” bonuses which accounts for a lot of the uplift? Coutinho being paid £3b a week cant help either.

Agree, we are still moving forward. There may be bumps in the road, but I see we are still developing the team and ridding ourselves of expensive missteps mostly from Gerard (JJ an exception).
If we can add Asensio and Jackson plus loan RCB, I think we will be stronger this year.

Plus the commercial side is continuing to raise the revenues, so I am optimistic that Unai and team have a plan.

Need some players in in the immediate term though either way.

Absolutely, the squad is nowhere near set for the season ahead.

Spurs can get in 60,000+, Newcastle 53,000ish, at present, we are little over 42,000. Once that has been addressed, which it is being, revenue will increase.

I can't see any reason we wouldn't bring in our usual couple of loans next week. Feels like the ideal way to keep the squad tidy while doing that "net positive transfer spend" that UEFA are keen on.

As Ads says, that keeps the accountants happy for this season and gives us room to spend money on permanent players next summer.

I wonder if we will bring in Trossard on loan in January once Havertz is fit again, assuming Arse sign Eze.

I was thinking that. I know he's just signed a new deal but I can't see him.getting much game time if Eze goes there.
