I love their choice of language, "monitored".

Given the window closes today, what are we monitoring?

How much milk he puts in his tea? His driving on the way in to training? His phone manner?

I'd take Elliot or Mainoo as a loan - World Cup year so if they are bothered they'd come. Apparently ManU turned down latter request

We absolutely do.  Half the team looks like it doesn’t want to be here.
Well come 7pm tonight they are seriously going to have to get a grip. The whole thing is a mess but they are highly paid professionals, they need to stop feeling sorry for themselves and work together with Emery to put it right. When Unai turned up we had a bottom 4 group of players that became a top 7 group of players in a matter of months, with the only addition really being Moreno.
Im sure Emery can do this again, but all concerned need to a get a f**ing grip.

They haven't really given the impression of being the most resilient bunch over the past couple of years.  When they are up against it, particularly away from home, they have tended to fold.

When you look around what's there at the moment I don't see too many who would be up for the battle in struggling times.  I see more who are likely to want to follow their mates out of the door as soon as possible.

We've pretty much done a Leeds. gambled the house on CL, failed, and have left ourselves in the shit. Not as big a mess as they were but we took a gamble and lost and are now paying for it. The best case scenario seems to be hope to get through the season unscathed, have a cup run, and start again next season in a hopefully better financial situation.

That seems a fair assessment.  Bad example given their trophy but I’d prefer this approach to Spurs where their wage ratio is something like 40-50%.  Of course there is a sustainable middle ground but arguably we had to push the boundaries in order to reach Europe and the extra revenue that provides.

Can still see Rogers leaving.  With Harvey Elliot coming the other way perhaps.

Talking of "Here We Goes", did anyone see that spat between the DT journo and Ben Jacobs regarding the Isak deal?

It's not really right though, our problems aren't PSR or particularly SCR, they're down to the need to make a profit on squad for Europe. To do that we need to sell players that were in that squad. If we'd been able to get Martinez sold early (given it seems he always wanted to go) and get some money in for Bailey rather than a loan then I suspect this window would've gone very differently.

If we hadn't had this extra requirement, which doesn't mesh with the others we're already working towards, our main issue would've been wages but that could be handled by work around the fringes moving on coutinho, donk, moreno, etc. Having to sell first team squad players has made this window much tougher than it should've been.
