Emery having a nightmare tonight. What is our setup at the back...Bailey kind of RWB but not really. Three centre backs marking nobody and Digne lost, utterly lost on left.

Totally agree. Tactics all wrong by Emery.

As soon as I saw we were playing 3/5 at the back I knew the game was lost. It's a desperate measure to try and improve a defence by adding players rather than correcting mistakes

We don't have a CDM available though. I think he was trying to find a solution to that problem and threw off our balance a bit. Hopefully this is a wake-up call for Friday.

This fixture build up is absolute bull.

We could have just played Bogarde there. I think from what he's shown that it's probably his best position.

Bogarde has been horribly out of his depth tonight. But what was possibly going through Emery's head that he landed on playing him right of a 3!
Bogarde is the one I'd criticise the least

TBF - I think this is on Unai.  Whatever we tried to do today hasnt worked.

I picture him with a bingo bag of numbers making the team selection.

Forget the league now. Just channel everything into the cups.

If you can put a performance in like this in such a crucial game to win, I wouldn't be surprised if this time next week we are out of both cups.

Technically, we wouldn't be out until the following week but I take your point.

Can we stop with the 3 at the back - if conceeded 4 against spurs and 3 against palace and scored 1 - its probably not the way to go.

Really fucked off with this - sums are season up - 1 step forward 2 back.  Same all season.  Too difficult for us to score, to easy for us conceed

The CL tie is over two legs so that would be difficult.
Well I guess if we defend like this in Bruges it may be possible!

If we’d played an intelligent match we’d have won this. So frustrating.

This second half has been an absolute disaster, Rogers goal aside. Teams on a poor run just love playing us, every season.

When it’s not working why not change the formation? There were the players on the pitch to do that.

It is pretty wild how close positions 3 through 10 are in the league table.

As utter dog shit as we have been, VAR has totally ruined any standard of officiating that we once had. It’s down the toilet.
