Not doing hindsight and really like Ollie but a natural goal scorer would have seen us win this.
Agreed

Poor defensive effort to let that goal in. Three defenders and Emi.

Midfield static. Space for Roger’s disappeared after the sending off. Cameos from Rashford and Asensio but I do wonder if they are starters.

Not sure how Watkins missed the st chance so badly first half.

Probably a poor decision to take Digne off.

I will never understand the people who leave early. 1-1 today and they all exit at the usual point,

Tielemans has 1 goal and 4 assists from 25 games. That is a problem for us.

We massively overrate him as a fan base

Bearing in mind he takes a lot of set pieces as well it’s a really poor level of output.

Fucking hell.

Yes, it was frustrating, annoying but it isn't indicative of our season really is it?

I'm still enjoying every minute and I think we'll take the game to them on Weds.

Microcosm of the league season really, we have made hard work of everything. A lack of clean sheets combined with profligacy in front of goal and general sloppiness has stopped us kicking on. Two points from three games against West Ham and Ipswich at home plus Wolves away is rubbish.

I understand the optimism of people who point at us still only being five points from the top five but other teams look far better than us and we can't string any results together to close the gap.

Now we have Malen, Asensio and Rashford, we should be able to give Rogers the rest he needs once in a while. All the new boys look good, which is at least promising. Although Disasi got done for their goal.

The ref showboating, pointing at his watch 5 or 6 times…

We had the keeper down for 2 mins, 2 goals, VAR check on our goal, 3 or 4 sets of subs, players ambling off the pitch and loads of (understandable) time wasting.

Ridiculous.

Like others I’m really frustrated by our slow play. I think it is Emery’s way of managing fatigue as no mater who is playing our tempo is consistently slow. Also once they were down to 10 men we had the chance to wear them out but didn’t up our game until we were behind. This also has a massive effect on the atmosphere as it is hard to get excited when Mings,  Martinez and Disasi are seeing who can keep the ball the longest.

Maatsen is a good threat moving forward but he should never have allot the cross to come in for their goal. I haven’t seen it back but Selap seemed to be more alert than Mings and Disasi which is piss poor - similar to the Leicester equaliser last month.

Up front I don’t think we got behind them enough or moved them out of position with our own movement. I was in the Upper Trinity today towards the Holte so had a good view of our overall play and we had few occasions where we pulled them out of a comfortable shape.

Extra finishing practice for all of them tomorrow. Their keeper made some good saves but our shooting is poor and we often dally before firing in a shot allowing the keeper to set himself.

The ref was awful.
And yes, he appeared to love being front and centre.

Harsh, he’s been playing in positions which will not influence games as much as maybe he could without the maestro Kamara for the best of this season.

For the best part of 13-16 months in Emery’s reign we had Kamara and Luiz on song playing without missing a game and they were incredible. However Kamara got injured and Dougie lost his mojo….

It’s been a funny season, yes, we’ve played some substandard games, and at times we’ve  lost the pazazz from a lot of last season but we’re in the Champions league and still in the cup with possibility of a decent league finish. It’s not all doom and gloom.

Tielemans is fine and has been a very good player for us.

When Tielemans is playing in advanced role, and we are zipping the ball around, he’s one of the best.

This is true. I said the keepers against us suddenly become Lev Yashin, but in reality we probably flatter them by our shots being saveable.

For me this game was lost in the first half, our approach to games all season long is nothing short of reckless, we start games on our backs asleep, why is that? do these players not get prepared for the game, it sets the template for the whole game, lay down the law and the opposition withdraw, you don't do that and they get buoyed, confident and start to attack you, we conceded, after that Ipswich could have gone down to 9 players it would have made no difference.

Positive from the game, if the likes of Ipswich can come to Villa park and come away with a point then we can easily go to Liverpool and get 3.
