Some really harsh comments here given the huge divot that got ripped out of the pitch.

Maybe he plants his foot a bit too heavy but you can't account for the top surface ripping like that.
Beckham did it against Portugal in a shoot out and the suspicion at the time was the pitch had been doctored and the portugese players knew about it.
