A lot of them were tortured in one way or another. Charles Hawtrey was far more comfortable in his sexuality than Kenneth Williams, but a raging alcoholic, Sid James obsessed with Babs, James and Williams despising each other.
I did a film degree back in the day and did my dissertation on Carry on Films… only in the 90s!!

Anyway Screaming, Kybher and Cleo are great, dont lose your head is also a gem.

I think a few of them were like that, proper ‘actors darling’. Hawtrey had quite a tragic end I think, amputee living in isolation. James, Williams, Hawtrey and Hattie Jacques were all a bit tragic in their own way
