Looking at the table I think it might be better to lose next week to avoid Citeh PSG or Real in the play off!
How does that work?

If they finish low 20s and we stay reasonably high there’s a big chance we will play them isn’t there?
I don’t know, is it a draw or are places automatically selected by placing?

If Talkshite are correct it’s 9th v 24th, 10th v 23rd etc.

That's right more or less with home leg second for the higher placed teams.

Really? Seems arse about face if so.

From the knockout phase play-offs onwards the tournament is a bracket. The teams that finish the league phase between ninth and 16th will be seeded for the first draw for the knockout phase, and will face a team placed 17th to 24th. The seeded team will, in principle, play the return leg at home.

Potential opponents are also pre-defined by pairings of teams' final league positions. For example, teams finishing ninth and tenth will face the sides that ended 23rd or 24th; teams finishing 11th or 12th will be drawn against either the 21st or 22nd-placed sides and so on.

The eight clubs that prevail in the knockout phase play-offs progress to the round of 16.

Yeah, I don’t think it’s coincidence that one of our better performers was Buendia who is one of the few who hasn’t been playing 90 minutes every three days.

I have some sympathy with Kamara and Mings, both back from long term layoffs and having to play constantly with Torres McGinn and Barkley all out injured.

We have become increasingly pedestrian and the lack of tempo is leading to players becoming sloppier.

Don’t think I’ve ever seen us play in that bad against a poor team.
I thought we would bounce back.
But you could tell the sands of time was slipping away as the game progressed.
Emi and Bailey should have been hooked at halftime
Real fuckin pisser of a game.

They did the defensive basics well. I was impressed with their centre backs

I assume you mean recently? Because I’m sure everyone could provide a comprehensive list of utterly woeful Villa performances against poor opposition.
