Fantastic point in the end .

When did we last come from 2 down away vs a "Sky6" side to get anything , you'd be going back decades , may not have ever happened .

Shout out to Bogarde great performance, Unai clearly likes him.

Our two goals were also both masterpieces, a lovely diving header and a well controlled volley , both from fantastic crosses .

Only downside the injury to Onana and the worryingly poor performance from Maatsen.

United with Coutinho’ debut wasn’t that long ago (but yes, they’re few and far between - we’re good at giving them up though!)

That was at Villa Park , I said away , possibly decades ago , if ever .

It’s amazing how far we’ve come in a relatively short time. A Gerrard team would have just capitulated. Unai is a very clever man a great manager and a joy to have.
Not the prettiest performance but super goals and the job got done. A draw there is good especially from 2 nil down.
Well done

This is worth reposting.  These are halcyon times.

I didn’t think there was a chance we’d come back, but fair play 2-0 away at Arsenal and getting a point is a terrific result. Both goals we conceded weren’t great, but great character. Point won.

I dunno if we were two down but I remember a 2-2 at Highbury in the white AST kit, Yorke and Savo scored. Obviously we were a decent side then as well.
Throw in at least two games at Spurs in the 90s-2000s where we came back from two down to score four and five respectively. Obviously they were considered "big five" back then even though we frequently finished above them or beat them in those days.

Someone was asking on the match thread, when did we last come from 2 goals down against a Sky 6 team?

Well, I was at Highbury for a glorious night in '96 when we did just that. Did we manage to do it again in the 29 years since?...can't remember

If you mean December '96, don't think we were 2-0 down in that game.

Edit: just looked and you meant the LC game in February. Ignore me 🙂

He prob means the league cup semi final. The game in the white kit was the following campaign.

Sorry yep, my mistake!

I was 5 at the time of the LC game and hadn't been to VP yet, so don't remember it.

A word for the onfield officials , possibly one of the most corrupt performances I've seen for a while particularly second half .
I thought we were pretty poor first half though had a couple of chances , we were yards off the pace and hence conceded . The second goal almost seems to wake us up .

I thought we were pretty poor for the majority of the game. Digne was only one of back five I was happy with. Maatsen blew his big chance, Cash was roasted by a man in top form, wasn't impressed by either centre back if I'm honest. Konsa left Cash far too isolated and too much got past his post. Mings still is nowhere near his best for me, lots of fouling maybe to be expected after so long out. Just half a yard short at times. Martinez shite for both goals.

Kamara was decent again, Bogarde tried very hard next to him and Watkins put a fair old shift in. Got very little from our de facto wide men, Rogers improved a bit on left late on. Rogers at start of second half and Bailey at end completely failed to track their men and really should have been punished. Disappointed in Ramsey really, he jumped out of a tackle with Partey in the second half that I was sure Emery would hook him minutes later as a result. Minding himself too much and was bullied by a midfielder out of position.

Any day you go 2-0 down at Arsenal and draw is a great result but our form worries me. It's like we are doing enough lately in 20-30 min spells to get results but that's not really sustainable. If there's any chance we could get Luiz back this month we should take it. There's something lacking in our team.

Jeeese. Imagine what you’re like when we lose

All sorts of opinions matter, but it's a bit of a stretch to be critical of 4 points on the road inside a few days, especially against a very impressive opponent today.

He does mean that yes. Not a dissimilar game. We went 2-0 down before we even got going, Berkamp leading us a merry dance IIRC. Then, we woke up, couple of great strikes from Yorkie and Savo, and it was 2-2. The home return was 0-0 over an 120 mins that seemed like 120 hours. I remember Yorke running into a corner towards then end like he just wanted a snooze for 5 mins. The lads barely had enough left to raise their hands in celebration at the end...

If you haven’t seen it already AFTV is great viewing tonight. The post match interview outside the Emirates is comedy gold.

Got to say, looking back at the 2 goals we conceded, Emi was very poor for both of them.

When I saw the team sheet, I thought we actually looked the better squad on paper. But it was a great point, in the end.

After defending well in the first 10 minutes, I thought we were managing the game quite well until they scored, after which we looked ragged through to half time. But we had shown enough to suggest we could get back in the game.

Onana is made of glass. Or he’s a fair weather player who doesn’t fancy it when things aren’t going our way (lost count of the number of times he’s gone off just as the game turns against us). Or he’s unlucky. Or all three.

Tielemans just couldn’t find his passing range, but more than made up for that in the last half hour.

Neither of our full backs were getting tight enough on the wide men. Digne helped improve that after the break.

JJ was poor all game, lots of technical errors. Rogers didn’t really get going in forward areas, and looked flustered most of the time

Hard to know what to make of Bogarde. He looked a bit lightweight in there to me, but I like his passing (studious, very little wastage), including in the lead up to the first goal. Shame he didn’t hammer that chance in.

Ollie is really letting rip with his celebrations when he scores.

The rest were Lions, but none more than Kamara, who was the best player on the park by a country mile.

Great to come back from two down and earn a point against a highly fancied if vile, horrible club with a lego headed wanker for a Manager and a referee who was utterly incompetent.   Credit to Cash for the cross for Ollie's goal, wish he'd do it more often.  Could quite easily have accepted no points for the two away games this week, to get 4 is an absolute bonus and Unai has definitely turned our form around. Two nice goals for us but I felt that theirs included piss poor defending from us.  Really pleased with the point and the performance.
