From pancea to dud. God bless the internet.
It might be that he is still smarting from the CL snub, but he doesn’t look too interested.

That wasn't my take from yesterday.

He is the first Villa player to actually hit the goal net this season, albeit side netting.

His natural tendency was to drift into the inside right channel where it was already congested, we desperately needed width he didn't provide. He was less than impressive but so were the other 3 forwards.

He's not a winger, so it's not massively surprising he doesn't provide width.

A bit like it would have been unreasonable to have expected Disasi to get to the byline to whip crosses in when he's not a right-back.

He's not a winger, and he's not a replacement for Watkins.

It's really difficult to see why on earth we signed him given our financial circumstances.

No, he's not, But we did need width and he was best positioned to provide it. If he was instructed to provide that width, but kept coming into areas where he wasn't welcome, then that might provide an answer to why we haven't seen much of him despite the financial package of bringing him here. I also wonder if that package has put a few noses out of joint.

But he was playing in the right wing which was what made the unbalanced formation so frustrating.

I was right above Cash first half and Malen kept drifting inside giving no option. I thought Tielemans disappointing but offered him no option either.

Wouldn't be surprised to see him move on today. Very odd signing

Feels like we signed him without really knowing what to do with him.

He's quite clearly a striker, not a winger.

He'll get more chances and he's done OK so far.

Reports when he was signing that he very much is a confidence player - and when low can be very bad.  Tends to do things in fits and starts.  Needs a run of games.

I was right above Malen, there was about a dozen occasions where he made a run, Cash ignored him and just passed to McGinn or Konsa.

In those circumstances, moving inside to try and get a pass from somebody else is really all he can do given Cash's refusal (or inability) to pass to him.

Football has always been predominantly about balance, if you play two players wide who won’t give shape and offer an outlet then you’ve got very little chance. Palace were so much better structured!
