I think 65 will be enough this year.  Surely we can get that.

Let's not kid ourselves. Chelsea have won one in five (us) and Liverpool haven't won in three. If they had simply gotten their shit together, rather than title winning form, we'd be in big trouble.
Know what you mean and that’s how it looks from a narrow focus. But zooming out a bit, you can see that Chelsea had won four on the bounce before hitting the sands. So if they had won, say 3 or 4 of the past 6 games (instead of 1), then that would have been title-winning form.

Similarly, Liverpool: 3 on the bounce before hitting the skids against Wolves. Another couple of wins, and that would have been red hot form.

United: 7 in 10 is title-winning form.

ManU were shit under Amorim, as soon as he was binned they sadly stopped being shit.
Until the last few matches under him, they were pretty much neck and neck with us this season.

Taking Liverpool and Chelsea fixtures into consideration, I think we’ll need 9pts from our next 5 fixtures (takes us to 63pts). If we do that, then I don’t see Chelsea being good or consistent enough under Rosenior to catch us or Liverpool…so worst case scenario would be 5th place. To stay in 4th, we may need to get a draw when Liverpool come to Villa Park…but if we take care of our own business in the next 5 games then it will be done and dusted by then (hopefully).
Think Pat MacMahon was pointing at 63 points a number of weeks back, and that still feels about right (i.e., no more than 4 wins in the last 7 games for Liverpool or Chelsea, with 2 of those being head to heads, and a further 1 for Liverpool being against us). If either of them manage that, frankly that will have been a superb performance. I think there’s no chance of that happening for one, let alone both.

To be honest, the biggest threat has been our own poor form these past weeks, during which it’s been hard to see where our points were going to come from. But once again, if we were to fall away to that extent, we would be in territory unknown under Unai. It doesn’t feel like that is where we are headed right now.

I’m still convinced Carrick is the new Solskjaer. It all starts off really well but when he’s got to change it up or alter the formula he’s going to struggle. Maybe wishful thinking on my part but what’s Carrick done to warrant a job of this size. As ever Man Yoo in trying to recreate the Ferguson era and not realising the games moved on.

63 points should do it. Chelsea have Citeh, Yanited, and Brighton away next plus a trip to Anfield, so they may not get to 60.

No lose scenario for Carrick. He would Solskjaer 2

I've been saying 63-64 for a couple of months, any higher required 3 teams all going from something around 1.5 points per game to 2 or more and that was always unlikely.

Definitely that. In my view, given that it seems unlikely to affect us directly, we should be hoping that they make it into the CL and that he is retained.

Few? They won 3 of his last 11.

It's been a great weekend of results for us. Couldn't believe we were still 4th at end of last weekend and now to extend our lead this one is superb. It's in our hands.

Well, they were in the European places.

Yeah, I take you're point. One more win from them both and I'd be feeling distinctly less confident though. Either way, it doesn't matter. The table looks good and we do seem to have turned it around.

Feel like the major remaining risk is a fresh injury crisis. Away from that, believe we'll do it.

I think 4 wins absolutely does it, and 3 wins probably does.
