Reason to be positive:

Chelsea and Man United are done. We are still fourth. If we can start to function just at a mid table level, we can pick up some points in the next six. One last hurrah before Liverpool and Man City MIGHT be enough.

6 points from the next 6 should be enough to qualify, and we can rest players against Liverpool.

I suspect Brentford will be breathing down our necks after tomorrow night. They will have had a huge boost by all the results this weekend.

Genuinely think we will win at least 3 of next 6, possibly all 6, so we will be fine.

Honestly, we were better than recently. There was a phase after we scored where the game really could've gone either way, and with all respect to an out-of-position Bogarde I think we win that game with Cash on the pitch. Fucking awful of course, but that's life.

Absolutely. With Villa, Chelsea and Liverpool out of form, they must be dreaming of 5th.

It was definitely better, but after they scored their second we completely collapsed.

Any upturn at all and we will get 5th, at least. As of right now we can match Liverpool and slightly under perform Chelsea and still get 5th.

April is a big month for us.

They won't be consistent enough and will fade

Well we probably stand more chance of finishing in the top 5 than we did at the start of the weekend.

The last two league games against teams competing for Champions League spots he’s started Mings and we’ve conceded 7 goals. It’s not all on him, but the idea he makes us defensively solid because he’s a physical defender is a thing of the past (if it were ever genuinely the case). It messes up our defensive structure and it sure as hell knackers our ability to play out of the back - which is apparently what Unai wants his team to do. It’s doing stuff like that type of selection which is not helping at all.

And just to be clear I’m not anti Mings - I used to think he was a really good player, and actually he used to be better on the ball. But he’s degraded a bit and he just shouldn’t be starting now.

Agree. Unless Torres is carrying an injury we’re not aware of, its strange that he keeps persisting with Tyrone.

Agree re Mings in the main, his time at this level is coming to an end. Was horrendous v Chelsea. Thought he was decent today though. Granted that's with no pressing from their forwards. Strange day not to play Torres as would have had all the time in the world to find Watkins shins...

Digne over Maatsen was an inexcusable selection. Digne played during the week too. He's completely done and isn't even defensively secure any longer. Awful mistake before half time should have been punished yet stayed on over 80 mins.

Barkley over Luiz was crazy too, easy day to play midfield and Barkley did well. But I didn't understand that one.

Today's starting lineup had MON or even Houllier types vibes. When we started playing we exposed how average they were. But the selection was a bit cowardly.
