This time 2 years ago us and Spurs were going neck and neck for the last Champions League place. Now look at the state of both us in relegation form. A sorry sight! Real problems!! #POTUS

And I think this is the point. That we've managed to maintain our league performance to qualify for Conference, Champions and Europa League whilst being in the Champions League is nothing short of outstanding. Spurs have been dreadful for a couple of years. ManU are pressing now because they've got nothing else to play for. Forest are battling relegation a season after being Top 4 for most of the season (and spending a lot of money). Newcastle have been there a couple of times too but can't maintain it. West Ham have huge revenues after being gifted a big stadium (which is shit for atmosphere but great for cash generation) but are battling relegation.

Our net spend is negligible and we've had to wheel and deal.

Emery is a genius and deserves our full support, especially in the tough times, and so do the players. They're all trying their best and at the moment we've lost our form, for the reasons highlighted before, but the only consistent performers over the past few years are Arsenal, Chelsea and Liverpool. Bournemouth, Brighton, Palace, Everton, Fulham have all flirted with improving their lot. Everyone can be beaten by someone else.

Let's not become entitled but be positive, recognise there will be periods where things don't work and help as much as we can.

Think Drum mean ManCiteh rather than Chelsea but yes, great post.

Yep, bodged that up with not putting ManCity in. Chelsea have been inconsistent too, yet spend fucking billions. In fact I'd wager the likes of Chelsea, City, Liverpool etc have probably spent more in one window than we have in our entire history.

Can someone who understands this stuff better than I do (which is pretty much everyone), explain the impact on our chances of getting a 5th place CL qualifier if ALL the Premier League teams go out of Europe at this stage?

5th place has looked like an almost certainty for a long time, but I doubt anyone expected every English team to go out this round, which now looks like a possibility.

If they all did go out, is there still a chance we lose the 5th team in the Champions League?

I saw a post that even if all English sides go out england is so far ahead of the points  in 1st its practically  confirmed 5th gets CL.

I  have a feeling that arsenal and Liverpool  will gi through.  Chelsea if they score early could do it (although that 5th is a killer) betaing psg by 3 is going to be very hard

Newcastle  have  a chance
City are only ones out for me

No you can't explain it, or no there's no chance of us losing that 5th place? 😂

The permutations have to be pretty exact, even if all 6 CL teams drop out next week. Spanish and German teams would need a miraculous set of results going their way. Madrid vs Bayern and Leverkusen vs Barca are 2 ties that would happen if winning teams progress. One coefficient has to suffer there.

You're also relying on pretty much every English team losing the second leg, which is INCREDIBLY unlikely.

I think that if all nine English teams go out of Europe at this stage, and every German / Spanish team goes as far as they can  then it's just about mathematically possible.

But if Arsenal go through as expected, it's done. If Palace go through, it's done. If I dunno, Roma or Lyon, or Porto, or PSG or Fiorentina or Strasbourg beat a German / Spanish team then it's done.

In short, it's absolutely fine to enjoy Chelsea / Man City / Spurs getting pummelled.

Thank you.  That is precisely what I wanted to know, can I sit at home and enjoy watching those three get hammered, without worrying about the consequences for us - thank you!!
