They're only +1 in terms of points gained after 85 minutes. We are +5.

Well if you contrived your predictions to think of almost the worse case scenario, then its really easy to see why we'd be 6th in the next 3 games. As all of a sudden we're apparently awful, so awful a point is the limit of our ambitions from Wolves away and Chelsea at home.

Mentally weak.

You know we're not the players, right? The fans can be as mentally weak as they like if the team's good (cf. all the teams that win things and their shitty fans).

You can be as mentally strong as you like (and I have no doubt you are) but it means fuck all if Watkins tries to control a long ball on his left tibia.

Sounds selfish but I'd be disappointed if we didn't finish third. We've been there for so long.

Now you come to mention it, I had been wondering why the Villa had not paid me in a while.

Doesn’t sound particularly selfish, I imagine everyone on here wants that.

Even if we finish second? Or first?

The mood music isn't brilliant.

But it looks to me like we're unbeaten in 3 in the league, 5 points from 9. Kind of form that would be comfortably enough to get us home.

We'll be competitive in our big head to heads - we always are - against Chelsea, United, Liverpool, City. There's at least one win in there, if not a couple.

I think we'll do it, but only just.

After last year, and with pretty much our entire midfield currently missing, 'only just' would be good enough.

Just frustrating that barring injuries and one almighty dropped bollock at Old Trafford, we'd be looking at our third consecutive season of CL qualification.

Even with the dropped bollock it was only goal difference that stopped us qualifying.

We've been poor since Tielemans became the third midfield casualty, even if we have scraped five points. One goal from open play in four games, none at home from three? The next three games are more difficult, it's not a stretch to see us only picking up a point if we continue at that level. I'm hoping to see some changes, in particular Bailey and Watkins must be dropped.

Hopefully Chelsea will get Newcastle in the Champions League, I think it means they would have to play them three times in a week. Three chances for Joelinton to do some damage. If they lose to Arsenal and we can win next Wednesday I'll be more optimistic.

But, and to repeat it once again, it's symptomatic of the whole prevailing attitude that something's always bound to go wrong. It's the biggest problem Villa face, and it's been there for as long as I can remember.

I’m with the optimists, we struggle against the low block teams, but often do well against the top teams. We may not be firing on all cylinders at the moment, but we will improve and we have two of our best midfielders to return soon.

Third or fourth will be our final position.

I think we're showing just enough improvement mentality wise on last year for me to feel relatively positive. I don't think we've ever looked quite as poor as we did in the Palace and United games last season, which I think where the two worst performances the teams ever had under Emery.

It's helped that the standard of football across the league has been really poor in parts, especially from the 'bigger' sides, though I think that's partly a cop out answer, in reality the mid table teams have generally just gotten better at taking points from those above them.

The attitude of fans makes precisely zero difference. Arsenal are top of the league and have the shittest crybaby fans in football.
