If it goes to Citeh away we aren’t getting there. But I strongly suspect that won’t be the case.

I will be extremely nervous if we're 6 points or fewer ahead of Liverpool when they come to VP.  Which means we have to pretty much match their form from now until May.

You're assuming that the consequences will be the same, which I doubt.

If it was one of those three trying to catch us, I'd be worried, but all three seems massively unlikely. Chelsea can only play 45 minutes of good football and United look so brittle. The first bad defeat and they'll collapse into old habits. Liverpool have an insanely tough run in also, you'd be hard pressed to pick harder fixtures for them in the last 4 weeks.

Equally though they have a pretty straightforward stretch of games in the lead up to that. Obviously that doesn’t guarantee victories, but it’s easy to see them building up a head of steam.

Games are only straightforward if you win them. Going into 2026 I expect most people would have expected them to take more than three points from four games against Fulham, Bournemouth, Leeds and Burnley.

Oh for sure, and clearly if they play like that it won’t be an issue. My point was more if they’re in it going into late April/May they’ll probably have built up some confidence by then.

If we hold anything like the form we've shown consistently for more than three years now we'll piss it.

That's the long and short of it.

Both Manure and Chelsea look good going forward, but are pish defensively.

Fancy our chances of finishing above those 2, more than Liverpool tbh.

Indeed.  And January February was the time we could have pretty much secured Champions League football, but having our midfield decimated has put paid to that.  If we had a full-ish squad to choose from, I'd be pretty confident, but we don't, and I'm not.   We desperately need to string a few wins together.

It's not done until it's done. Chelsea away, Manure and Arse at home, three fixtures we'd  half expected to get nothing from. An optimists view is that those 9 points have covered for the losses these past few weeks.

This is what it's like being at the top. No team has the right to walk success in this league.

Which is how Liverpool won the league last season. They had an easy start, got in the groove and kept going. And they didn't get any major injuries.
