Top 8 would not count as a good season, especially if we don’t win the Europa league.  From where we are now to 8th would be a total collapse and a (relative) disaster.

This season just feels massive.

Chelsea have a new young manager, will surely have a rough patch next season.

Man Utd, depends who they appoint permanently. Carrick would be another inexperienced manager, likely to have a rough patch.

Spurs, who knows. Don't look likely to threaten next season.

Liverpool had a magnificent season followed by a shaky one so far.

If we finish top 5 I feel like we can kick on, add some genuine quality, and do the same again next season, miss out and it's another uphill battle, likely losing a key player and having to do it all again with our hands tied behind our backs. Unai can only do so much, you can tell he's frustrated.

8th would be a rubbish season. We need to be finishing top 5.

Yeah, even finishing 6th would be a massive disappointment now.

The worry is that Yanited, Chelsea and Spurs being in transition seemingly every season this decade surely will settle down soon.

They have all the resources, we only have some of them.

We need to keep getting top five by hook or by crook. If not, hopefully UEFA will offer a 6th place PL team CL football cos we're just so much better than all the other leagues.

The funny thing is paul thats where i expected us to finish when the window closed in summer when i looked at squad. I never thought we would be where we are.
But now like you all things considered, 8th would be very poor- although i would happily finish there if it meant winning europa  this season!

We're even further ahead of 6th after this weekend's games. 8)

We have to win midweek. Liverpool go to Sunderland which will be very tough. If we can end the week 10 or 11 points clear that would be massive.

It’s unbelievable really. Plus Man Utd and Chelsea won’t keep winning like this and we have a decent buffer to 6th.

There's 13 games left, Liverpool are 8 behind and have taken 7 points from their last 7. They're shit, and don't even have an entire midfield out injured as an excuse, they're just shit.

Other way of looking at is they are due a good run.

It's a nice result. I'll feel better about things if we do the business in the next couple of games.

62 points should be enough for top 5. That means 15 points from 13 games.
We still have games against each of the bottom 7 teams. (We have took the maximum 21 points off those bottom 7 earlier in the season) Realistically I would expect us to get to 70+ points even with injuries and cup distractions.

They've won 6 league games since September, they're shit.
