Saw something earlier suggesting we're massively outperforming xG. I know not everyone is a fan of the metric but let's say there is something in it. If so, there's a couple of ways of looking at it. Either we can't keep getting away with it, or imagine what we'll be like when we get our shit together.
It also tells us that Ollie isn't getting chances. If his barren spell was down to missing chances, we'd be underperforming against xG - the fact that we're the opposite suggests we're not creating much at all for him to actually score from.
But also that some of the openings that may become chances are being lost because he's getting beaten to the ball.
I think part of the issue is that there's a combination of factors, including that teams are working out how dangerous he can be, are nullifying that threat, and because he's low on confidence and potentially fitness, he's not finding a way through like he was.
You don't score the goals and get the assists etc that he does without having something about you. He's not a one-season wonder either.
Whatever though, something needs to change, because we can't rely on free kicks and shots from outside the box to win stuff.
