Well, at least we're creating chances.

Haha! Good point well made.

A win is always good to take. Wish it had been easier though.

Rogers motm again for me

Seriously? Idiotic free kick given away at end could have been costly. Gave away ball far too much I thought. Nice pass at one stage to put Watkins through.

Only saw second half, granted poor conditions but we were fortunate Southampton were so poor. Watkins had the cameo from hell when he came on, butchered countless openings. Only Kamara, McGinn, Carlos (yes!) and Digne when he came in impressed. We have a real problem in midfield that neither Tielemans or Barkley can turn and run back. Better teams will exploit that.

A dirty win and a clean sheet. On to RBL.
Maybe the first half would have given a better overall perspective

Clean sheet and it should have been a very comfortable victory.

Some of our decisions in front of goal are comical. Last season we’d of had a hatful. I suppose thats the main difference between this season and last.

For all the talk of our defence during the bad run, the main problem has been shite decisions when in great positions. If Villa had Salah we’d be challenging for the league.

Very much a win ugly game and forget about it.

It was flat and horrible conditions so we just had to get the job done and we're now back in 5th which is very pleasing after the poor last six weeks.

Maybe it's a false position but none of the other established teams below us look much good so I'd rather keep on getting wins and expanding the points difference.

It was a strange game in that we had loads of counters, loads of opportunities around the goal but I can't remember Lumley actually making a save. He'd have probably chucked one in given how bad he was dealing with the corners.

So a little different to Bournemouth when Travers had a world class game for them and thankfully we didn't concede from the late free kick.

We move on to hopefully calmer positions in Leipzig and Nottingham.

One thing about the opposition, that Tyler Dibling is going to be an absolute star.  Only 18, and already looking more than comfortable at this level.  With better players around him, he'd have caused us real problems today.  Also looks pretty quick, which you don't always see with players with his playing style.

I imagine he'll be poached in the summer when they go down, and I hope we're one of the clubs in for him (and we're not pipped by someone like bloody Spurs).  Imagine if he'd been down our right side today, we'd have battered them.

I thought we defended brilliantly. For them, when we got in their box :D

Some of the opportunities we managed to spurn, that takes skill.

He certainly does look a potentially great player. MOTM  for them for sure.

Duran starts the next game, Digne was great when he came on, Kamara and Rogers played well again. Watkins, Tielimans and Bailey were very poor. Defence has to be Digne, Torres/Mings, Konsa and Cash for Tuesday

You don’t like the bloke who always plays in our rare clean sheets?

You're concentrating on the few things that didn't work and ignoring all the things that did. Pretty much everything good we did came through him.

Watkins isn’t a worry for me, he’ll still assist and score plenty. Philogene on the other hand, he’s just not good enough to be our only alternative wide right.

He made some mess of that chance at end. Poor guy his confidence must be on the floor.

But with pace.  A very dangerous combination.
