He's been pretty consistent with his criticism of the poor quality shuffling throughout this season's competition.

Brilliant day of football. Geordies and Manc scumbags out, and the draw gets pulled out massively in our favour for once.

Can't take anything for granted, but this HAS to be the year, surely?! UTV
Stop it! I'm taking nothing, NOTHING for granted until we all see John McGinn lift up the claret & blue ribboned trophy at Wembley, and wearing the lid on his head!

If McGinn can break a 114 year curse, 68 years should be a piece of piss, surely?

Just had a look, in 89-90 they beat us and Everton at home in their fa cup run and they got to the league cup final, beating Leeds, Southampton (decent team then), Arsenal all at home and thrashing West Ham in the SF 1st leg 6-0 at home. So we weren’t alone that season.
Oldham were brilliant at times that season

We will need to win this cup because Small heath are going to win a plastic toy also rans cup and we will need to have something to wave back at them.

Andy Ritchie chests the ball down 25 yards out, big bounce of the plastic pitch and bang! Back of the net.
Rinse and repeat.

For some reason I thought we lost 2-0 to Liverpool in 1992.

I hated that kit because of that game. We lost at Forest in it as well.

Didn't realise we had 9 consecutive away draws from 1962 until 2015.
On a positive note we have only ever lost one QF when there is a 5 in the year,
It's our time.

Two wins out of two against Preston. Five out of five against Lancastrians, using the modern boundaries (I think Oldham is in Greater Manchester).

We didn't make a semi final for 36 years?

Nope. For decades there were two certainties around Villa FA Cup Quarter-Finals. 1. We'd be drawn away. 2. We'd lose.

Franz Carr finally broke the latter jinx in 1996 but we had to wait another nineteen years for a home draw, which, of course, saw us go back to the Dark Ages.

The bankrupt Birmingham City Council have just announced that due to expenditure cut backs they can only afford one combined FA Cup/Tin pot trophy parade and civic reception. The open top bus will have Villa players on the top deck while Birmingham City players will occupy seats downstairs. Aston Villa players and officials will then have a 4 course meal at the Town Hall while council officials have promised Blues players a happy meal at the Mcdonalds down in Bordesley.

Just three home quarter final home draws in 72 years and only one since 1960! 9 consecutive away draws from 1960 - 2015.

Thanks. I'm 37 so the majority of it pre-dates my existence, but I'm still surprised I've never heard about it. Remember the gubbing against Liverpool in '96, but just presumed we'd lost a couple of semis between that and '57. Madness.

*Well, we did, having checked. In '59 and '60, but you know what I mean.
