A note of caution: If I remember, we drew Oldham away in the quarter finals around the early 90s? I think we lost 3-0 on a terrible pitch! I really thought it was our year then! It's good that this will be played at the end of March, by which time I'd imagine most of the long term injuries will have cleared up. We should have enough on the day to beat Preston.
Was there! Plastic pitch, if I recall. We watched on in horror.

We’re now outright second favourites following the draw.

Not taking Preston lightly, but Oldham were a team on the up then, just starting that period of promotion the top league, a league final etc. i thought it was our year too though.
If we can beat Preston and Bournemouth can beat Man City, has the potential to be a really interesting last four. Id fancy both Brighton and Fulham to get through as well.

To Man City, who I think Bournemouth will put out. If not, we're more than capable on the right day. Strap in. Big opportunity.

You’re right, but their ascent wasn’t yet obvious at the time the game was played, I don’t think.
I recall (very vaguely, admittedly) that we watched on, waiting for the football “logic” to kick in and we’d get back into the game.
Any moment now… and then, never.
Still, am amused to have shared the evening with several of you on here - can’t have been that many of us, only 19,490 there that night!

Before the draw for the 1/8 finals I did guess Preston NE away for us. That did not happen.  Now my guess is that we will get PNE away for our 1/4 final.
INSIGHT (at last)!

Mike Milligan as well and don’t forgot that well known Brummie Frankie Bunn, who I’m sure scored for them that night? I listened to it on WM, distraught. Im sure they battered another Div 1 side in their cup run, and were unlucky to lose to Man Utd in a semi final replay.
