Looks like they have made it the 150th Anniversary Match. (even though its in the 151st year)

Presumably to increase the attendance?

Really?

This absolutely drips with cynical opportunism and I hope the place is half fucking empty.
Don't worry , it will be

I'm not interested in going for once. My lad wants to, but trying to get there at a decent time, through Friday rush hour traffic... To watch what will likely be a second string just doesn't stack up.

It's the one thing I want us to win (I've seen the rest), but given the above, plus KO time, likely lack of commitment of the team and manager, plus this shite and brazen attempt at spinning more cash rather than doing a proper event, well fuck that.

That’s exactly why. Some people who wouldn’t bother for those reasons might now because of the ‘celebration’. If it puts an extra few thousand on top of what will likely be a poor attendance otherwise it’s job done for Mr Heck.

If he's strategically done this he's a bigger ****** than I imagined . I hope they rethink this and do the 150th on a Prem game .

I've just read the blurb on the club's website. Jeez, what a crock of shot.

Not sure I understand, most those tickets are sold anyway to season ticket holders, so where does the extra revenue come from?
We could risk a more lucrative match later but its 50/50 whether we make it through.

It's a sad state of affairs when the natural reaction to something like this is to wonder what Heck's commercial angle is here.

A game celebrating what should be a momentous occasion, but will have close on 7,000 cockneys along the whole length of the stadium.

Heck and the commercial team haven’t got a fucking brain cell between them when it comes to understanding the fans.

I assumed it would be a league game in November 2024.

I mean, Spurs had an anniversary strip for a league game against us in 2008. Arsenal had an anniversary kit for a season in about 2005-6 and Man utd played in an homage kit for Munich in 2008.

Choosing an FA Cup game does not strike me as particularly well 'planned' given that there is no guarantee the Villa will play a home FA cup tie in a season (based on the past decade!)

So pardon me Chris Heck, but I can see what you are doing here old chap!

One of the matches which has made me most angry in the last 25 years.

Didn’t Port Vale have the entire Witton Lane and Lower North? 12,000 tickets in the days when home teams had to give up 25% of their capacity to away away fans?

They did, it's the game we won 5-0 in the pissing rain.
