Why would anyone choose Mings over Pau to go to Anfield?

If we want to shut up shop, he's a better defender? Plus he's ace at tidying things like stray balls up.

Pau for me, possession of the ball we do have will be key.

Torres surely played himself out of the team after his display at Spurs. Mings didn't help his cause in Belgium but I think we need his leadership qualities at the moment. Wouldn't be surprised if Emery tried 3 at the back, especially if Cash is out, with Konsa, Mings and Torres and Kosta and Digne further up.

Nah it was a bad game when there’s a good chance his mind was distracted. He’s one of our best players and he needs to play. Also this narrative that he can’t defend has got a bit out of hand, if he couldn’t we wouldn’t be in the Champions League and he wouldn’t be an international. He have some weaknesses under real physical pressure, but Liverpool won’t bring that and in the round he is one of our best players.

We finished 4th last year without Mings.
Pau is a better around player.

He is - like I say there’s this narrative now that Pau can’t defend. It’s not true, he absolutely needs to improve on some of the physical battles. But his all round positioning, reading of the game, timing of tackles is excellent. Plus he’s exceptional on the ball. Ty is a good player, he’s not as good as Pau overall.

Tielemans is fit!
on that basis

-------- Martinez (c) ---------
Cash Konsa Mings Digne
--- Onana - Kamara ---
Tielemans ---------- Ramsey
-- Rogers
---- Watkins --

Cash is injured.

Liverpool 1 Villa 1 22/23
Liverpool 3 Villa 0 23/24

Next.
