This is a really tough game but it’s also a real opportunity. We have to get it spot on, and cut out the casual lapses in concentration that result in us conceding daft goals. We also need to be clinical up top.

-------- Martinez ---------
Cash Konsa Torres Digne
--- onana -- Tielemans
McGinn ----------- Ramsey
--- Watkins --- Rogers ----

Think that's what Emery will go with looking at who didn't play Wednesday . It's a strong team , just need them up for it and all on form .

Results have gone away today, due a good convincing victory, we don't concede early, I'm going 3-1 Villa

After a few results went our way yesterday it would be good to capitalise on them but we all know what happens in these instances. I fear a frustrating display and result.

A few more posts from their forum, they really are a the most despicable set of fans:

"Good to see Villa drop points at home right at the death. Cash is scum.
Well done Bournemouth..again!"

"Had it down as a draw; Villa underperform in a CL week, just dont have the squad."

"brummie c***s are they"

"When did villa fans get so big for their boots? One ok season where they get conference league, a competition we would rather not be in at all and they are all going on saying they are a bigger club than Spurs."

"They had a good season. But with the squad they have they should be challenging for a 6th or 7th placed position considering how bad Chelsea were and that Liverpool were nowhere near at the same level. They did absolutely nothing extra-ordinary. Nobody has said they can't be pleased or happy. But celebrating it like they've won the FA Cup is ridiculous.

"If we got 4th place and celebrated like that I think most of us would be pretty embarassed"

"If they cheated fucking deduct them."

And then rather ironically given the above:

I was browsing a villa forum to see what they're saying, and boy do they hate us. Fucking hell.

I fear this game, in part because I have a real dislike for Spurs but also because they have a style that if we’re not on it they will cause us lots of problems (like at Villa Park last year). We really need to go up a gear today and put in a more complete 90 minute performance. Come on Villa big display today.

A perfect opportunity to take advantage of yesterday's results. Got a decent record down there of late so who knows? 1-3. SJM, Watkins and a pen.

Play Cash and get him to boot the first opposition player that comes near him.

The game at there ground last year, they did largely dominate the first 20-25 mins and deservedly scored, but then as we do we grew into the game and Torres scored at a good time & we bossed the second half. At VP, I’d say its the only time since he’s been here that Unai got it tactically wrong, from memory he had Cash in midfield again, but we also sat really deep giving them all the momentum. Still at 0-1 and Van De Venn going off injured we still had a chance, until McGinn lost his head and the rest is history.

Im a bit anxious about this one, partly dislike of Spurs, partly because it feels like first really big game since Arsenal, but mainly because of whats riding on it in terms of our league position and the potential gap with the likes of this lot.

C’mon the boys!!

Yep I’d agree and I hope the fact Van Der Ven is out is pretty decisive. We just have to be clinical with our chances, we’ve been good at creating them but our finishing has been pretty sloppy in the round this season (some wonder goals, but also quite a number of remarkable misses.)

Right no more doubt, today is the day it will click.

The good thing about today is a defeat doesn’t cause a gap between us and 4th, but a win sees us 5 points ahead of Brighton, 6 ahead of Newcastle and 8 ahead of Spurs.

I’d take a draw if offered now.

I wouldn’t. In spite of my reservations about the game it’s really one where we need to make a statement. We’ve only played a couple of games against teams in the top 10 and we haven’t won either.

We're due to give someone a hammering soon: I can feel it.

Like Palace on Wednesday, today won't be it.

Surely Ollie will play, being an Arsenal fan and all that?

I don't think there's any doubt about that

Shouldn't be any reason for fatigue here we rested 90% of the team
