Th red players on the pitch have the message, this game doesn’t matter.

And I don’t want to hear “The team was good enough to win” because it clearly isn’t and “oh it was an opportunity for them to show what they can do”.

It is an opportunity for them to show what they can do. What they can do might be lose to Palace, but it's as good an opportunity as Emery will get to see a lot of those names play in an actual competitive game, against decent opposition. Better to see it now than in March when the injuries have piled up and we've got to use some of them.

Must admit Palace have put out a significantly stronger team than I was expecting from them.

Didn't think they'd be risking likes of Eze and Guehi when they have Wolves away on Saturday.

Thus far - unsurprisingly - Mings and Kamara both look really rusty. Gauci has been all over the shop, too.

On the bright side, off goes Eze.

Not looking the best decision by them on 17 minutes.

And now Eze goes off injured.

Playing your better players into form against another team's reserves isn't always the worst idea in the world though.
