We had a few of these sort of results last season. Making a balls of it against Brentford at home in April and then beating Arsenal away springs immediately to mind.

Also the drawn game against Bournemouth away before Christmas. Felt like we needed all three points in that one before facing Citeh and Arsenal at home.

If we see that sort of response again this year I'm sure most of us won't mind at all.

Goes to his knees with the greatest of ease for sure, but there is a bit of contact and had it been given my hunch is it doesn't get overturned, as it wasn't with the decision that was made.

The decision from the match officials was that Watkins kept the ball in and that McGinn scored. Then it is claimed that VAR overruled because of 'factual evidence'.

Though if it is not Hawkeye or other technology, then is it 'factual' or simply the VAR official offering an opinion?

That strikes me as the VAR stepping beyond their remit and making decisions for the match officials. UTV

VAR can override on absolute decisions if they are called wrong on the field WITHOUT the ref needed to rewatch to decide. So ball out, offside and handball by the scoring player in the build-up. If the decision becomes subjective (player was offside but was he interfering, handball by another player before the goal,etc) then the onfield ref has to make the final decision with VAR showing them.

Thought we played well first half but definitely dropped off in the second. Rodgers looked tired second half which is understandable considering the amount of football he’s played.

Last 10 mins or so were very strange from what we’ve come to see in terms of managing the game out.

Upgrade at right back is a priority. Cash battled well against Semanyo and is always willing to get forward and works hard. But positionally he can often be caught out, his final product is often lacking and he’s always a danger for giving away a penalty either by sliding in recklessly or handballing. Season in, season out.it continues. He’s probably one of the few players that hasn’t improved under Emery which suggests he doesn’t have much capability to.

The trouble with Cash is that as the game progresses and he tires, his decision making suffers. Tbf he kept Semenyo quiet for about 80 minutes but I don't know what Iraola did but all of a sudden Cash was getting isolated one on one time after time and it has to be said it was only a matter of time before something happened. I couldn't understand why Carlos didn't come on and Konsa move wide but Unai decided we could see it out but unfortunately we couldn't.

In Cash's defence he had 2022 version Bailey in front of him for support . No wonder they targeted that side more . Once McGinn and Rogers went off we lost all physicality in midfield and they just strolled through. .

Yeah but Cash was all over the fucking shop for their goal, just stood there doing fuck all. That's nothing to do with Bailey.

We lost 1 point on the top of the table, and no points against Liverpool, Arsenal or ManU. We gained points on Tottenham and Newcastle and lost out to Chelsea and Man City.

Not bad overall.
